TV shows you decided you had enough of after the first season

I was watching Altered Carbon with Joel Kinnaman. It made me think of one of his previous shows, The Killing, and how I dropped it without hesitation after the first season ended with no advancement in the story and no resolution. I did read up on how season 2 ended and wow, what a let down after dragging out a murder investigation for two seasons.

The Following with Kevin Bacon was another one. Felt like there was nothing driving that show other than seeing if they could top the last gruesome murder with an even bigger one.

Fairly Legal was a light and harmeless show on USA during their "blue skies" era, but they retooled it for season 2. I watched the season premiere, but that was enough to make me stop.

Any shows you watched that lasted more than one season but the first season was enough for you?

I got a free copy of the 2nd season of Supernatural on DVD. So, while I didn't see the first season, the one season that I did watch was enough for me. It wasn't bad but I just didn't find Sam & Dean to be that compelling.

Similarly, my interest in The Muppet Show petered out before I completely finished the 2nd season, which was the only season I owned.

Andromeda & Enterprise are both shows that I watched from the beginning, then gave up on in the middle of Season 2. I dropped Enterprise pretty early in Season 2, IIRC, "officially" quitting after "The Communicator." I stuck with Andromeda until Robert Hewitt Wolfe got fired, then dumped it. Granted, I've still seen a bunch of episodes from later seasons but those were the points when I stopped deliberately following what the storyline was or making time to watch new episodes. Enterprise did show some promising improvements in Season 4 before it got canceled. Andromeda... not so much.

Well, I'm a FANATIC for Supernatural, so I'm totally biased but I think you really missed out. I had initially only seen a few episodes here and there, and thought "Meh," but I later went back (thank you, TNT reruns) and watched the first 5 seasons and was SO impressed with that story arc. WOW. @The Borgified Corpse , I would recommend giving it another go and watching it in order.

The Following was one hubby and I both agreed to ditch after one season. Wow, did that run into a pile of stupid pretty fast. It was a shame, too, because it had a great cast.

I think we watched about three episodes of Arrow before dropping it. Maybe I am too old for this show but it didn't grab my attention at all. Not fun, not enjoyable and not interesting. The lead character did not appeal to me so I didn't care what happened.

I'm a big X-Men fan but I could barely make it through the fist season of The Gifted. I have season 2 on my DVR but have no interest in seeing it. It tread the ground that the X-Men have tread million times over but TG did it in such a boring way.

I bailed on Designated Survivor after 6 episodes into season 2. The thriller aspect of it was just too lifeless and the political stuff was too cliched.

Earth: Final Conflict. The first season was awesome, but I had no interest in it once Boone was gone.

I actually didn't start watching that show until Season 3 but I thought that Seasons 3 & 4 were really good and unlike anything else in sci-fi TV. Season 5 was a crappy show about oversexed space vampires. But the shifting alliances & political machinations of Seasons 3 & 4 were really good.

I don't blame you there. I stick with it because it has the potential to be a great show and does have flashes of greatness. The last couple of episodes have actually been good so I'm clinging onto hope that it'll keep getting better.

Not that it matters. Chances are it'll get canceled because of low ratings and Disney+.

That's about the time I bailed, too. I wanted to love it but it was filled with too many stupid characters doing stupid things for the sake of the stupid plot.

    Designated Survivor (dumb and boring)
Narcos (I just didn't care about anything)
Luke Cage (should have dropped it when Cottonmouth departed)
    Iron Fist (dull)
Lemony Snicket (didn't even finish the first season)
    Breaking Bad (it bored me)

How many showrunners did Designated Survivor have? Four or five? It's no wonder why it was such a mess. It's coming back on Netflix with another showrunner. Crazy.

There honestly aren't a lot of shows where I got all the way through the first season then didn't want to continue. Either I quit after the first few episodes or I'm in it for the long haul, generally. Enterprise I quit early 3rd season, I guess True Detective qualifies but that was more because other seasons got middling reviews.

Game Of Thrones. I watched the first season two years ago to see what all the hype was about. I enjoyed the storylines involving the Lannisters and Daenerys but when I started on the second season, things became more complicated. More characters and more storylines that I just couldn’t follow and didn’t care to try.

Interesting as I've only watched seasons 3 and 4 of Enterprise because seasons 1-2 stories were awful and the characters/actors were even worse.

I think I stopped after 3 episodes of Season 2.

Earth Final Conflict was another one season and done for me.

Dropped the new Hawaii 5-0 after the first season. Semi-Related, I missed the season 7 finale of House and never went back for season 8, so as far as I'm concerned. he and Cuddy are still happily together.

This is why I gave up on it after the second season. Having not read the books, it was just so hard to follow so many storylines each week. That and it was probably a little too violent for my tastes.

Other shows I gave up on

Luke Cage, Iron Fist, Daredevil Season 3 (I just haven't had an interest to watch them. I might eventually though)

I think we should probably call it BSG2004 at this point. It's now 15 years old.
