Yes, Baird didn't give a flying-fuk about Star Trek.
He just wanted to make a Trek "Action Movie" and Berman stupidly let him.

Again though, it is widely known that the director was someone who didn't understand Star Trek, didn't like Star Trek, and left tons of footage (mostly "character moments") on the cutting room floor. So I dunno if we can blame Stewart for how he came across in that movie.

Yeah, Stewart is not to blame for the quality of Nemesis at all!

All I wanted to say originally was "Stewart having creative control" doesn't really mean much in favour or against the quality of the show. It only means he's probably personally more interested in actually doing it. And also, that we're probably going to see more of "Action-Picard" than we would expect, because that's what he likes doing. Wether that will turn out to be good or bad is completely unrelated, and depends on the people actually doing the show.
