Director David Sandberg has said that the suit is a work in progress, and that they are continuing to tweak some of the aspects of it in post. The linked article features a new Pre.View magazine cover with a new picture of the current version of the suit, which is still not quite the final version of it. Sandberg said that they are still going to do a little more work on the lightning bolt. They mainly just seem to have toned down the colors a bit, but it does look better IMO. EDIT: Corrected the name of the magazine, for some reason I thought it was Empire at first.
I hate the lack of buccaneer boots more than the hoodie cape. And the light-up gauntlets and chest emblem must have gotten hot at some point. Doesn't look all that comfortable to wear. But...this is what we get. If it has a good story, I'll pretend everyone's saying Captain Marvel when they call him Shazam, and believe that Djimon Hounsou is the only one answering to the name Shazam. I just hope it has a good story.
It no doubt uses LEDs, which don't get particularly hot, which is why we see so many superhero/futuristic costumes with built-in lights these days (see Black Lightning, for example). Not to mention something like the glow of Iron Fist's hand, where Finn Jones wears an LED bracelet sort of thing to create the interactive lighting on his face and body and it then gets digitally erased and replaced with the animated glow.
The only "hero" who can't say his own name Also, a fucking smartphone, because of course. I bet he'll do the fucking Fortnite dance, too
Back in the day, Billy said "SHAZAM" to turn into Captain Marvel, and Freddy said "Captain Marvel" to turn into Captain Marvel Junior. So, we have been here before.
Yeah, back when Freddy couldn't say his own name, fans considered it a charming bit of fun, in keeping with a charming, fun mythos. Now DC does it with the main Capt. Marvel and those same fans go on about how it's idiotic and shortsighted.
If anything, Billy should be Shazam JR, since the wizard is Shazam. Mary Batson also says "Shazam" to become Mary Marvel, which cannot be her public Superhero identity, if she's trying to stop baddies from threatening her family.
Depending on the continuity, the only family she has are also able to harness Shazam's power, so it may not be much of an issue.
For once, I completely agree. Captain Marvel was not a child; he was granted the wisdom of the ages and such. They seem to be completely missing the entire point of the character. It should have been done as a 50s / 60s period piece IMO.
Billy only has the Wisdom of Solomon when he is Captain Marvel, and really Solomon may have been clever, but his general knowledge is capped to Bible times, so his ability to apply that wisdom is limited. I suppose SuperGoofy had similar issues.
Guy..you are confusing wisdom and knowledge. Someone can still act like a kid but have wisdom to make the wise decision. They also need to have the character to do it (which Solomon wound up not having)
I agree, which is why I said that he has wisdom but not knowledge. Matt was talking about Captain Marvel having the Wisdom of the Ages, (which might be wisdom plus knowledge?) but Matt was conflating the Wisdom of Solomon with the Rock of Ages, which is where the Wizard lives, and not part Shazam's powers.
I've said fuck all on either topic, that was Phoenix219. Perhaps you should harness the Factchecking of Snopes?
