I agree JL was the suits attempt at realigning the DCEU version of Suoerman; and FWIW I thought they succeeded at that, BUT for while JL was probably their best DCEU film behind "Wonder Woman"; I was disappointed they pulled Darkseid out of appearing because they didn't want to risk being 'locked' into a sequel.

This is almost certainly PR spin on the real situation, which is the cost of insuring Affleck on the production now, after his latest rehab stint, would be prohibitive. Affleck is basically in the same position as Robert Downey, Jr. in the mid-2000s -- unaffordable to the production on blockbusters, having to do small indie films where he can go uninsured.

Tyler Hoechlin has gotten a lot of praise for his work as Superman on the Supergirl TV show.

It's not that hard to get Superman right.

And he hasn't yet, because all he is doing is mimicking Chris Reeve's interpretation.

It's not that changes aren't allowed -- I'm on record many times as saying the decision to have Lois in on Clark's secret from the get-go was a great choice, even though it flies in the face of most of the characters' history and tradition. But not all changes are created equal, and a miserable, angst-ridden Superman drowning in a grimdark morass is not the way to go.

Thank you for reminding me that when it comes to certain characters or stories, people like you have no imagination or tolerance for something different or challenging. As long as the studios and production companies keep kowtowing to the likes of you, pop culture will continue to rut in a pool of mediocrity.

Hardly anyone was bitching and moaning about how Superman should be portrayed as some one-note hero before Henry Cavill took over the role. And the comic book Superman - especially in the last two decades or so - has been a lot more complex than some boy scout in a blue leotard. Just like it did with Fantastic Four, and just like it did with Ghostbusters, the casting will cause a backlash, which will affect the movie's grosses. It's just ridiculous.

There are plenty of non-white characters that are great. And there are plenty of non-white characters that have yet to be created that will be great. Superman is a white guy.

Oh, I disagree. The constant diversion because of improv deflated any sort of tension. Whereas the original Ghostbusters was focused funny and exciting.

GB2 is a terrible movie. A desperate grasp for money.
