the pattern is pretty similar to the NX-01's as well.
Also bears some similarity with the TMP model's.

Whatsa matter u, ya never heard of rubbin' two bushes together to create some heat??And you made her watch while you molested a shrubbery?
Nice catch on the IDIC similarity. It's kind of amusing though, seeing in "Lethe" that Vulcans see Starfleet as a second-rate space force behind their own Vulcan expeditionary group.
They are two different designs with no explanation! They're sticking with the idea that until CBS goes back and actually shows this design in use during 'The Cage' they will treat them as two different designs with no explanation.
There is a real life explanation, but not an in-universe one, because there doesn't need to be.They are two different designs with no explanation!
They are two different designs with no explanation!
The main portion of MA articles are written from in-universe perspective. They really cannot put 'CBS wants to sell more toy licences' in there. There is a real life explanation, but not an in-universe one, because there doesn't need to be.
What exactly is it that makes you believe otherwise with such confidence? Some people on Memory-Alpha are taking visual canon very seriously.
They're treating the DSC Enterprise as prime and canon, but not as a retcon/reboot.
So until CBS goes back and actually shows this design in use in 'The Cage' memory-alpha is still treating them as two different designs.
Whether there "needs to be" or not, there is a potential one implicit in the previously-introduced concept of the TMP refit. This would be true even if they hadn't deliberately dropped in a reference to said concept on the show when they initially teased a new Connie design in "Despite Yourself" (DSC)...which they did. Moreover, Ted Sullivan and John Eaves have both suggested by their offscreen comments that this may indeed be the intent! And there is certainly enough time, both between "The Cage" and DSC, and between DSC and TOS, for the Enterprise to undergo such modifications. So irrespective of whether it can as yet be directly proven, to the extent that Memory Alpha can state with certainty as an in-universe fact, that this is precisely what happened, it certainly can't be disproven either. The retcon here, as it stands thus far, is no more or less than that a previously-unseen configuration of the Enterprise exists in 2257. Your take on it may be that it's simply a "visual reboot" with no change or difference indicated in-universe, but I remain unconvinced that this is, in fact, the production's take on it.There is a real life explanation, but not an in-universe one, because there doesn't need to be.
And you made her watch while you molested a shrubbery?
Well yes they can, they have boxes specifically for out of universe and BTS comments. The main portion of MA articles are written from in-universe perspective. They really cannot put 'CBS wants to sell more toy licences' in there.
