    Personally I prefer crying Cyclops.
And you will only enjoy Trek terminology injected into Shakespeare quotes when you read them in the Klingon original!

Did any Klingons quote Shakespeare outside of ST6?

Pretty sure that was confined just to that movie.

Well, I have a copy of the Klingon Hamlet...

If you only count canon material I don't think so.

I'm beginning to think Klingons go through a lot of fads.

It has this nice little introduction about how the Federation appropriated Wil'yam Shex'pir for their own propaganda purposes :D

God, I feel old. Wait, nevermind. :D

(I used @Dick Whitman's post as a jumping off point here, but this isn't aimed at him or anyone else individually.)

We should all be so wise! Oh, ye of little faith...

I doubt they had a specific plan in mind for exactly how to resolve it from the beginning, but I tend toward believing they always planned to resolve it somehow, eventually. Just like how when Picard was assimilated as the cliffhanger in the first part of "The Best Of Both Worlds" (TNG) they had absolutely no idea of where that was going or how it would be resolved in Part II. They make it all up as they go along, on the fly. That's how it's always worked. Like a certain Time Lord who shall not be named, their plan is basically: "a thing will probably happen quite soon." And then another thing. And then another, and so on. Not that they aren't thinking ahead, but they know they don't need to have everything all figured out in advance. There's time.

And knowing full well it was a given from page one that controversy in fandom would surely ensue with any new Star Trek no matter what, they elected to deliberately court and use it to generate word of mouth and attention to the show. This has been obvious to me all along as I've watched the story unfold to be met with inevitably reflexive reactions here and elsewhere...

WHAT DO THEY MEAN SPOCK HAS A HUMAN SISTER??? WHAT DO THEY MEAN SHE IS A MUTINEER? WHAT DO THEY MEAN REDESIGNING THE KLINGONS YET AGAIN??? WHAT DO THEY MEAN THEY HAVE CLOAKING DEVICES??? WHAT DO THEY MEAN THERE WAS A WAR WITH THEM BEFORE TOS??? WHAT DO THEY MEAN CALLING THIS A D-7 KLINGON SHIP??? WHAT DO THEY MEAN THE ENTERPRISE HAD ANOTHER REFIT??? WHAT DO THEY MEAN HAVING DIFFERENT UNIFORMS??? WHAT DO THEY MEAN USING ALL THE HOLOGRAMS??? WHAT DO THEY MEAN SPORE DRIVE??? WHAT DO THEY MEAN SAYING THIS SHOW IS PRIME???

None of these have been indications that they haven't done their homework or don't care about overall consistency between this show and others—give or take a few nitpicky details and visual tweaks, as is only par for the course, as ever—or are ignoring them, or erasing them, or whatever. On the contrary, what they are doing is quite intentionally playing with (and sometimes flouting or outright exploding) fan expectations, intriguing those keeping an open mind by offering up puzzles and riddles to be solved, and trolling the intransigent haters who will never come around no matter what they do...thus keeping even them talking about it continually. By providing this steady supply of fertile fodder for continued disagreement and debate and argument within the fandom—all of which is essentially immutably endemic to it anyway, as @grendelsbayne and others have said—they have fueled all of our passions regarding the franchise and the show, whether positive or negative. As the adage goes, there's no such thing as bad publicity.

Personally, I am finding this a most exciting and invigorating time to be a Trekkie—probably more so than at any time since the tail end of DS9—even if the endless circular discussions here often take a lot out of me in terms of time and energy. (Too much, really...like I said, I literally fell asleep at my keyboard last night!) They've undoubtedly got me just where they want me, along with everyone else...but for my part, I'm happy to be here!:bolian:

I agree with you. I think they had an end point in mind but not a specific path on how to get there.

I am just surprised there were not little teases of the other Houses in season 1. Though once we learn more and if they keep track of their details maybe those were already there. Season 1 might look different on rewatch once we have seen later seasons.

Imagine if the whole reason for the Klingon redesign was to hide the fact that Voq was Tyler. "/ Instead of just using two different actors or making him the only one to look like that.

One thing is for certain: it will probably be the worst Klingon change out of all of them.

There were, each of the holograms T'Kuvma was talking to at the start of the season had different ridges.

I just find it interesting how they had used basically the same makeup design for the Klingons from 1979 to 2005, and it wasn't until the reboots where producers have suddenly had a hardon for making them more reptilian, more gothic, with pointier... everything. But not any of the other prominent Trek races. Vulcans? Still look the same. Andorians? Still look the same. Tellarites? More or less look the same. Humans? Still look the same (:shifty:)

I wouldn't have minded if they had made the Vulcans a bit (but only a bit!) more alien looking, they're too human for my liking. Romulans in ST:09 had nice subtle forehead, eye corner and nose prosthetics; something like that would have been good. Also, Orions, they're just humans painted green, they should have gotten some sort of an update. In crap lighting they have on DIS you barely could even see the different hue.

I wish they would go with the designs that were done for ST:ID.

That theory has been floated many times. It's not that far-fetched.

That would mean Bryan Fuller was behind Tyler/Voq twist. As the make up was started when he was still onbaord IIRC.
