5 new Treks in development under Kurtzman including new Picard series, Khan series, and cartoon

I am not excited. Other franchess have attempted duplicating the genie in the bottle that was the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Most have failed. And, there is the history of Star Trek itself, where the franchise played it self out before being revitalized by the 2009 film.

Yep - nothing to see here - please disperse...

"A series set at Starfleet Academy from creators Stephanie Savage and Josh Schwartz. The duo most recently developed the CW’s reboot of “Dynasty” and previously created shows like “Gossip Girl” and Hulu and Marvel’s “Runaways.”"

zzzzzzzzzzzzz SA things send me to sleep

"A limited series whose plot details are being kept under wraps."

The Picard thing? I'd be up for this, bring back others from TNG, DS9 and VOY too

"A limited series based around the “Wrath of Khan” story. Khan’s full name is Khan Noonien Singh. He was famously portrayed by Ricardo Montalbán in both the original series episode “Space Seed” and again in the film “Star Trek II: Wrath of Khan.” Benedict Cumberbatch then played the character in the 2013 film “Star Trek Into Darkness.”"

Oh Nick Meyer's been working on this for YEARS. Hope Nestor Carbonell will be Khan.

"An animated series whose plot details are being kept under wraps."

Could be anything. A chance for old peeps to return without being older?

Exciting times. And we're getting Pike and the Enterprise in Discovery Season 2!!

Since Alex Kurtzman and Akiva Goldsman are involved, these projects will no doubt be as excellent as STD

Best case he will be so busy juggling all five (six including Disco) that he won't be able to focus on anyone long enough to ruin them.

Yea, that would be interesting, but I fear: teen angst, forced social agendas, love affairs, and other shit. Certainly the latest Trek TV series couldn't stop itself from a number of infractions.

Yeah, I just hope that they shoot a little higher than that. This. is. Star Trek! Hopefully that still means something even if it gets a little watered down sometimes.

Assuming all these get made...

Yeah, I'll skip the teen-oriented academy series. I don't need "Beverly Hills 90210" in space. Or "Saved By the Bell" in space.

Dammit, as bad as a teen series in space sounds I am now imaging the credits with the Enterprise warping by as the Saved by the Bell theme blares out.

Get Patrick Stewart in as Admiral Belding and I'm in. :techman:

Sounds like a good gig to be given absolute control and then use the excuse that you're juggling too much and therefore aren't responsible for any of these being duds.

Seriously, aren't executive producers supposed to DO SOMETHING besides walking to the bank to cash checks?

Yeah, I give Alex Kurtzman too much credit for maybe wanting to actually get out of bed each morning and use his legs.
There are days I don't want to get out of bed either. And I wouldn't have a job if people didn't struggle with depression any way.
