Even if it is the overkill death of Star Trek (don't forget 2 movies on the way too!), it'll be a glorious end. The day Star Trek drowned in itself.

Also diminishing viewership and more competition in the scifi market.

You think there was more sci-fi competition in the early 2000s than there was in the 90s?

    that made me curious
1998: DS9, VOY, Stargate SG-1, Sliders, Lexx, Earth Final Conflict, X files, Bab5. Counting shows readily available to US audiences with cable.
    I may have missed something.
2018: DSC, The Expanse, Star Gate Origins, Travellers, Lost in Space, the Orville, the 100, Stranger Things, Altered Carbon, WestWorld, Black Mirror, Doctor Who, the Last Ship, Electric Dreams, Sense 8, The AO, X files, 12 Monkeys..I'm going to stop listing or counting. this list has to take into account streaming services which are common in 2018.

I didn't count animated shows, or shows that might just make the list because alternative history (high castle) or future (Handmaid's Tale) or leaning more to horror. Left off the superhero shoes, though they should be on there too, it would further tip the scale. There is a lot more science fiction being made for the screen right now..

I think it started in the 90s and carried the trend forward. The late 90s had a big push from the Scifi channel with shows on almost every day of the week, with Sliders, Farscape, Stargate, Lexx, Invisible Man, and that's off the top of my head. Not saying it was the only thing, but I certainly recall being more interested in those shows than VOY, DS9 or ENT.

I'm still holding out hope for a reshoot of "All Good Things," with the modern footage being spliced in to replace the original "future" footage. That way we get the actors as they really look twenty-five years in the future, Except for Data. It make sense to keep his original footage.

If they get started working on it now then by the time they're done it will actually be twenty five years from the original airing of "All Good Things."

Except they'll redub the lines and refer to him as B4 throughout the episode.

Actually, using the same, tired and repetitive format and tone is what killed it last time. The plan, what little we know of it, seems to indicate the exact opposite.

I finally found out the secret of what these five projects are. The titles:

    "Untitled Prelude to Axanar Prequel"
    "Prelude to Axanar"
    "Axanar"
    "Axanar: The Next Generation"
    "Axanar: The J.J. Reboot-rams reboot"

I'm still waiting on a show that'll sit parallel to Wrath of Khan's events in the 2280 era, with that look style & feel.

It'll never happen, but I'm still waiting.

Guys, fellows, comrades, dear Trek community, citizens of world!
Not to forget, GoT should have become also five spin-offs, since yesterday there will be only one and takes place about 8000 years before the begin of ASOIAF!
