Spoilers Supernatural Season 13

New spoilers are popping that before the end of the season, Jensen Ackles is going to (finally) play someone different, and hints are that it's coming in the season finale, which suggests it's going to be a game-changer.

Prediction: they're *finally* going to spring Michael from the cage, only to find that Adam's body has disintegrated from its time down there (since unlike a "true" vessel it's not really strong enough to withstand prolonged possession anyway), meaning he'll need a new vessel...meaning Dean will finally say "yes" (eight years late). This in turn will be necessary because by then Lucifer will have regained his strength and it'll take the combined might of Gabriel and Michael to take him down.

I'm kinda thinking that myself. Since Jensen is finally going to play someone different, and archangels are afoot, it seems to be too good an opportunity for them to pass up.

It would be strange to have Dean give into his universe's Michael right after finding out what alternate Michael did to apocalypse-world.

If Dean, as a vessel, would be stable enough to hold Michael permanently, why not Gabriel, his younger brother?

Gabriel still has a vessel though, and even though it looks wounded, it doesn't appear to be from degradation. Besides which, the backstory suggests that he's had that same vessel for centuries, so clearly it's got what it takes to hold an archangel. I can't see them needing a reason for him to switch bodies.

Unless something happens to his body that forces him out, or has to leave it for whatever reason.

Keep in mind we still have no knowledge yet of why his mouth was sewn shut. Maybe it's to prevent him from leaking grace, escaping, or maybe Asmodeus just got tired of hearing hom.

I think the opposite, for the same reason--knowing what alt-Michael did would certainly give me motivation to allow my universe's Michael to stop him by any means necessary. Try as I might, I just can't see our universe's Michael being that mean anyway, even if he does manage to defeat/destroy Lucifer.

All things being equal (even with Richard Speight Jr being a super-fan-favorite), I might agree it was at least possible, but not with Michael very likely set to make a return. It's the only scenario I can think of given the reference to him made by Lucifer earlier in the season. Obviously they'd want to keep a Michael return under wraps, and the perfect way to do that is to let him possess someone who'd already be around.

My initial hunch with the whole "mouth sewn shut" thing was precisely to prevent Gabriel from abandoning his vessel.

Every. Single. Second. OMG.

Tonight's episode was FUN, pure and simple. Normally I'm not much one for non-mythology episodes, but tonight's is one you must NOT miss.

They made fun of every single Scooby Doo trope, from the thing with the doors (even Scrappy made a cameo!), to the hallways that are just the same backgrounds used over and over again, all of it. This show was a pure delight. Must watch again!!!

This episode illustrates exactly why the series has lasted so long, and still has a lot of life left in it.
