Well I'm not sure what to think about this. As someone who likes gooey happy endings, I should be thrilled. I mean - war ended, Ash gone (bye!), Burnham's adoptive daddy wuvs her and she gets her rank back and makes a sweet speech and everybody claps for Mary Sue who came up with the brilliant solution. What's not to love!?

The realist in me is going, what the fuckety-fuck?
- Georgiou would have killed her. Bye, bye Quo'Nos.
- Why did the Klingons accept L'Rell's word that she had a bomb? She needed to do a show of force (bomb somewhere or something) to prove herself. They gave in too easily. And what's to say she won't go back to war with the Federation? She's not exactly a fan of them. United they'd be even MORE formidable.
- Tilly after passing out would be on her way to Orion as a captured slave. What a moron.
- Sarek went from rather cold and indifferent to damned near emotional. Hell, he cracked a small smile.
- Yeah, Burnham would be in front of all of remaining Starfleet lecturing them on Starfleet ideals. My ass.
- Oh, here's your rank back. Who the fuck didn't see that coming halfway through the season? Mutiny? What mutiny. Wait - one mutiny and one THREATENED mutiny. Yeah, they'll want her back as a commander. My ass.
- I won't even address the big E showing up at the end. SURPRISE (not!)

Fan service. Honest-to-God, they Mary-Sued Burnham. And I LIKE Burnham normally even if she's a bit of a dumbass at times. But jeez.

I must confess, the fan in me rather liked the Amanda-Burnham-Sarek bit even if I know that should suck. I just love Amanda.

Fan Service - 10
What it should have been - 2
Average should be 6, but honestly my mind is going 5.

Really mixed emotions on this ep. Both delighted and very disappointed. I don't know what the fuck to think about it.

Lol at people somehow blaming everything they don't like about the series on the writer/producer who was fired before production began, and not on, say, the writer of Batman and Robin and Transformers who is also exec producer and actually wrote this episode.

LOLZ OMG!

True, but neither is the JJVerse one. There is a gap in-between where it could be though.
What we need is what the ship looked like when it initially launched.

I envision the Enterprise at launch looking like she does in "The Cage." Spikes on the Bussard collectors. Oversized bridge module. Flared-out deflector dish. No "eyes" under the saucer for the primary hull landing gear.

If they decide to promote Pike's number one to the Discovery captain's chair, then I'd love for Paget Brewster to be recast in the role:

She's not an exact match, but she has the bearing and no nonsense stoic quality Majel had as Number One.

I think Saru deserves the chair, though, so hopefully they are just making us wait on that score and maybe it will happen next season.

The Battle of Axanar was fought before 2252, the first year Kirk attended the Academy. He learned about the battle and went on a peace mission to the planet as a cadet. Something happened there, something which is mentioned in "Whom Gods Destroy". Yet, it's vague what happened there.

I like this iteration of the Enterprise. It

Not sure who that is, but I approve.

The peeing Klingon had two streams. No wonder McCoy had questions about their anatomy.

Also, poor Voq. Really puts "bone grinding" in a new light. That's a hell of a sacrifice.
Nothing McCoy said in the Prime Timeline applies to the Discovery timeline Klingons.

That bit especially given it would make certain characters in past prime timeline series impossibilities.
