I didn't watch all of this one. A few minutes here and there. But it's what I expected. The standard 'turn your brain off' entertainment.

MU Georgiou being the Captain of Discovery for such a crucial mission is beyond silly.
Agreed. She may look and speak like PU Georgiou, but she is a different animal altogether. I hope Burnham will realize this before she completely takes over Discovery to fulfill her agenda (presumably returning to MU and uses Discovery's spore drive and her tech so that she can become Emperor again)

Hoping the next Star Trek series will have at least one strong male lead that isn't a sexless alien or a villain.

Isaacs' presence is clearly missed on this show, but Prime Lorca is obviously alive. The dialogue here telegraphed it. It's another upcoming twist.

Let's hope we'll see him during the last few seconds of next week's finale sometime in Season 2 :):)

I hope that dialogue really is telegraphing Lorca's return, but the way they write this show in shorthand, it might just be their way of wrapping up that possibility.

I guess she's trying to find a way to return to her universe. I'm sure she wants to use Discovery's spore drive to bring her back to the MU, the same way Lorca used it to bring Discovery to his universe earlier.

We'll see whether Burnham will let her do so during next week's finale. I hope by then she realizes that the Georgiou who was her mentor is long dead and the new Captain Georgiou is a different animal with her own agenda...

Of course she wants back to the MU with a ship like discovery. So why give her what she wants? I'm thinking MU cromwell

Prime Lorca appearing is inevitable. Problem is, they won't have him as the series lead. So bringing him back will just be fan service.

I hope the next Star Trek series won't play this game with the leads and the Captains. I want a compelling and charismatic lead from the start, who is also the commanding officer.

Parts of the map of qo’nos Appear to be made from images of earth

Which is amusing because the map of the Kuvat(?) Colony targeted by the human Augments for attack by biogenic weapon in ENT was basically a digital map of Earth with some of the continents altered in shape.

I found this episode pretty mixed. I'd rate it a 7.

In some ways I liked this episode a lot more than the last one. It felt more like "Trek" in a lot of ways. The episode actually had a little bit more of the epic/big universe feel at times that the series has been lacking - perhaps in part due to the more extensive use of extras, and in part because we actually learn some things about the war for the first time in what - eight epiodes? Burnham's arc finally seemed to be going somewhere again. And I actually appreciated a slow, talky episode, along with the Archer reference.

Other things, though, were pretty bad. I don't mind dialogue-driven episodes, but as has been the case in the past with Discovery, there is often too much expository dialogue. People just don't talk on this show in the natural way that real human beings do. Also, someone pointed out a few weeks ago that there are no three-way conversations in Discovery, and ever since then it's driven me crazy. It's just dyad after dyad talking in rooms together.

All the Ash stuff felt stupid, even when the emotional beats were okay. At least we heard someone say that he won't be able to serve, Stamets was still livid, and Burnham didn't forgive him (for now), but overall I just hate that it seems like yep, L'Rell did "fix" him somehow. It basically returns him to where he was before - just a fucked-up dude, but for a different reason.

The Klingons winning the war despite being politically divided was just dumb. Yes they have a "killer app" in the form of a cloaking device, but the idea that a politically divided group of 24 houses, which do not coordinate tactics, strategy, or logistics, could put the Federation on the brink of defeat is just ridiculous. As is the mission, for that matter. I'm no military expert, but it's pretty clear no one writing for the series knows how wars are actually fought.

Random thoughts.

Bad ass Georgiou! Not so sure letting her be in charge is so good. Liked seeing her kick L'Rell's ass though. :D

About time you Daddy-d up, Sarek, you big dork.

So you know Quo'Nos isn't destroyed, so how does the plan go sideways and how do the Feds win?

I'm sure Ash and Burnham will rekindle at some point. :barf:

I really, really, really miss Lorca. I hope Prime Lorca returns but even if he did, he wouldn't be in charge. That's not how this series goes. Too bad because his character is very compelling and I suspect even Good Lorca would be compelling. Saru is too Picard-ish and (sorry TNG fans), Picard was deadly dull most of the time.

Will be interested to see how this ends for the season. You know, it's really not Trek Trek to me, but kind of an alternate Trek. Not the first time I've seen that with nuTrek and I'm used to it.

BTW - fans of Lorca curious about Prime Lorca, read Dayton Ward's new book out tomorrow. It's set 10 years before the events of Disc.

Very solid episode. Didn't miss Isaacs at any point.

Thought the Tilly/Ash & Ash/Burnham acenes were well done & believable.

Some expo on the spore stuff would have been nice, but whatever.

Georgiou in command is the only way they can play it. Cromwell is there to trump her if necessary. Though Saru/Burnham should have been in on it.
I'm going to miss Jason Isaacs but I didn't miss him in this episode. The show certainly did not at all have a void left by Lorca's death. This was a damn good episode and a much needed breather as well after the last episode and before the finale.

I can't believe I am paying $6.95 per month only for this show, the Super Bowl is on, and they don't have enough servers to handle the traffic, so I can't watch without 30-second breaks in the feed. \
