And even then there was some, campy moustache twirling. Yet done almost perfectly.

My problem with Lorca's end was I know he isn't that stupid. I mean the utter lack of foresight from that guy, the guy who outsmarted and out played so many smart players.

Its just silly writting.
It goes beyond silly writing. I've been hard on the writers all season, but I at least have tried my best to give them the benefit of the doubt.

The way this was handled wreaks of sheer incompetence.

I mean they totally shit the bed here.

I believe that is the only reference to a ship not turning during warp travel, though of course we have many visual scenes showing the ship turning and no mention of changing to impulse going back to many, many occurrences during TOS and onward.

Because TNG always had streaking stars when at warp. the wounded clearly shows the Phoenix turning at warp as she heads away from the Enterprise.
I think the idea is that you can do slight turns at warp, and that the lower the speed, the steeper the turn that you can do.
I just find the idea of doing circles at warp a bit far fetched with the knowledge we have had presented prior.

perhaps, but Jason didn't think so on After Trek.
Unless they clearly show on PU lorca died, i guess anything is possible.
At least that explains how he’s available to come to the Star Trek convention in the UK in October. I had a feeling that was because he was no longer in the show.

Yeah like I don't agree that it goes to the incompetant line but I can't say you're wrong.

Depending on how I look at it I can kinda see it both ways.

But I still think there were some competsnt strings holding it together. Some of the moments between the disco crew were serviceable.

By the way what the fk is up with Landry being such a let down, again...?

Look, I.S.S. Buran!

In the mirror universe, ISS Imperator was a prototype four-warp nacelled Imperator-class dreadnought starship of the Imperial Starfleet of the Terran Empire.

'Imperator' is canon now!

Nobody "wasted" isaacs for burnham. Thay doesn't make much sense to say anyway. There are the actors isaacs and green, characters lorca and michael.

Most of these stories were written or conceived before they were cast. It isn't like the cast isaacs as lorca, and think to themselves "gee this actor is so much better but we don't care cause we have a social narrative to push"

It'd be one thing to say they wasted LORCA in favor of burnham, but not isaacs. The character and the story werr written before they knew exactly who would do the acting.

And my own personal opinion, Burnham is a much more interesting character. I mean even if Lorca wasn't destined to die and continue on, like wilson fisk to daredevil, the interest in lorca's character could only survive attached to michael. at best You can't have Lorca without michael. His character on its own would.make zero sense without michael.

So even saying Lorca is wasted in favor of Michael makes no sense.

I thought there were some episodes that didn't seem to bear out her as a main character but I think its pretty clear the entire story focuses on Michael, especially now. So at best, the Lorca character is only really useful because of the Michael character.

And that's the biggest flaw with STD. Everything has to revolve around Mary-Sue Burnham; who is a very divisive character at best.

I generally don't say 'Lorca' was wasted, but Jason Isaacs' potential as a series lead for this show was wasted. He is, without a doubt, the most compelling actor and cast member on the series. Most agree.

Not really. He was forced to make real-time decisions with Burnham/Georgiou showing up and Burnham giving herself to him. He isn't aware of any relationship between Burnham and MU Georgiou. From his POV it all mostly makes sense.

I’m sure we’ve seen that class of ship already in the Binary Star episode.
According to Eaglemoss, it’s called the Cardenas Class.

MU Landry was far more competent and disciplined in her decision-making. Heck she was at a stalemate with Burnham before Lorca jumped in.

No, Sarek didn't have a goatee.
At least, not on his face.

Anyhoo, I loved this episode. I'm going to miss Jason Isaacs, but we have Michelle Yeoh back, and as much as I love Jason Isaacs, I wanted to see more of the Yeoh/Sonequa Martin-Green dynamic. The speech given by Lorca was a good one, also his highlighting of our own implicit biases and pointing out where they can be wrong, that we can all be mirror universes of ourselves. I *loved* Saru's speech, and I'm excited at the prospect of the USS Discovery under Captain Saru's command.

Great moments with Stamets, and Tilly. A callback to Hugh Culber at the penultimate scene, and an interesting twist in the conclusion of the MU episodes.

I can't wait until next week. 10/10

I don't think "most" agree. And if they did that certainly doesn't validate the point.

Isaacs cant be wasted as a potential lead as the show, the story had zero potential for a man to play the lead. The show was conceived to be about Michael Burnham. Michael is a woman. All the casting woulda been looking for someone to play that character. Most can agree they like isaacs as an actor more than green, preference is all preference.

But the show revolving around the main character itbwas written for isn't a flaw. That's called, the show is about this character so its written about said character.

The problem isn't that isaacs is wasted, the problem is many of you just don't like the show and wish the show was something else entirely. But instead of saying that you say crazy things like "isaacs is wasted and should be the lead" which is essentially the same as saying "isaacs should be playing the woman, michael burnham"

Unless what you're trying to say is lorca should have been the lead, which again your saying the show should be about a revenge driven villain, and then you're talking about a completely different show.

Good comparison.

Eddington has always been one of my favorite bits from DS9. One phrase I always like to use when people start into the Gene's Vision bullshit is, "Eddington was right." I've always found him to be an under-celebrated character. And a great example of a foil done right.
the federation are the same of borg
