This was so awesome. A 10 from me.

I loved them staying true to Trek's values with the quick rescue of Tyler.

And as others noted, while die-hard fans predicted many things, the execution of them was intense and engaging.

I loved Mirror Sarek. About the only thing I'm a little worried about is the shroom magic. I hope they don't make it to far out, but hey, much weirder stuff has happened in past Trek. ;)

And Lorca is still badass. Normally, someone getting tortured would want to get the heck out as fast as possible. Of course, his internal plan might be wanting to get to the Emperor.

One thing that disappointed me a tiny bit: if there was ever going to be a good time to show Cardassians in the show, this was probably it.

My mind just went somewhere obscure. Mirror Sarek mindmelding with and believing Burnham reminds me of Spock mindmelding with and believing Kirk-as-Lester in "Turnabout Intruder".

I enjoyed Burnham's solution to getting the info to the Discovery, but not even the MU can make me care about this Voq storyline.

    The emperor
    was exactly whom everyone suspected.
I'm not sure the show's reliance on all these mysteries was the wisest move if they can't make them more mysterious. The only one that has worked for me is the Lorca storyline.

Having Tilly, a cadet, play doctor without any actual doctors seemed stupid. I know they're trying to keep the focus on the core cast, but the Discovery feels really small.

Wondered why they had those big fans rotating slowly in the rebel camp. Seemed rather chilly as it was.

This wasn't bad, but as far as MU eps go, it was rather dull.

A fair comparison. Mirror-Voq and Mirror-Sarek are going to have a very interesting conversation, I hope (perhaps in vain)...

Dear god. Just think how awful they’ll look now. :)
That area of the Alpha Quadrant wasn’t open at that time in the Prime so it could be similar in the Mirror universe.

Tyler's last-second rescue by the Discovery was a bit of a surprise at first. For a moment I thought Burnham had gone full-scale MU on him and wanted him dead for betraying her. I'm glad he gets to survive and face the consequences of both what he did and L'Rell's surgery, brainwashing and sleeper agent programming.

They were close enough to get a transporter lock. And maybe they used the planet's magnetic pole to mask their presence much like the Enterprise-E used a similar method to hide itself from the Vulcans during the events of First Contact in 2063.

So is the Emperor on Defiant? Expected to see her at the end.

Very possible. They really should have mentioned that in the episode. A little exposition from the lieutanent to Saru saying that the Shenzhou hasn’t detected them, or something like that.

The closer comparison would probably be Mirror-Spock mind-melding with McCoy to find out why the landing party was acting so oddly before they wholloped the crap out of him.

The Terran Empire doesn't strike me as the most conscientious about scanners and whatnot. They couldn't even identify their own flying capital, and the Emperor wasn't even trying to hide.

ETA: I called it the "fly capital" at first which, frankly, is too good a typo to pass up. And in the trailer, it did look pretty fly.

I’m looking forward, and dreading what they’ve done to that ship. Some producer stated on Twitter that it’s looks come from modifications the MU has done to it so it won’t be the proper Connie.
I imagine it to look like the Warship Voyager; with multiple cannons on the front of it. Perhaps some yellow claw markings as well.

There's that but I was also thinking the mind-meld is what led Sarek to believe Burnham when appearances and conventional thinking alone would normally lead someone not to.

9/10. No complaints about it at all. The show had me guessing quite a bit. Looking forward to where this is all going.

They can't show the Defiant yet since it would commit to a finalized connie design. I don't think we'll see an actual connie till S2.
