To be brutally honest, I don't see how the Klingon War can be wrapped up so fast.

Unless it's 1) a ceasefire, or 2) Mirror Discovery unintentionally does all the dirty work for Starfleet, bringing the Empire to its knees, and the Federation takes advantage of it.

Or 3) the war is won off-screen, conventionally. A story possibility I like the least.
I think the golden ticket is already set up - the solution to the cloaking technology. However, with several episodes in the mirror universe still to go, Starfleet can't use it yet. Once they return, I imagine that will be used to negotiate a ceasefire.

All the comments about Mary Wiseman and Tilly’s appearance are absolutely disgusting. I dare everyone who posted them to post pictures of themselves. I doubt they will, most are probably in worst shape themselves while having an incredibly sexist idea of how women should look. This is also why they’ll never find a partner, insane standards.

Hey. I said I don’t find her photogenic by Hollywood/Trek lead standards. I too am not photogenic/attractive by Hollywood/Trek lead standards. But...I am not on that Trek lead pedestal. I am also happily married.
Insulting people for holding a benign opinion is not cool. I mean some people can’t get over David Duchovnys eye condition and therefore find him unattractive, and some people don’t like bald dudes like Patrick Stewart. Some people find Treks Klingon ladies unattractive. Madness I know. What you gonna do huh?
If waxing lyrical at the altar of Tilly is a thing, then frankly the opposite is too. No one here is chasing the actress up the street yelling at her.
Veiled insults are just unpleasant.

Interesting how Arne Darvin didn't get the same treatment, though, several years later with ostensibly more advanced tech available to do a better job, yet McCoy had his number within seconds of scanning basic vitals.

Maybe this is why. Did organ scarring and bone scans, now standard on Starfleet Tricorders after poor Culber got Voqqed.

Is it possible that %95 of Klingons torture humans like that, just so that %05 of Klingons can make Manchurians without it seeming obvious to the freerange humans left on the homefront?

enjoyed the episode. I believe this is an alternate mirror universe from the one we saw in TOS. the good thing about alternate timelines is you can go in any direction and do anything you want.

what I don't understand is wouldn't the Vulcans be full members of the empire by now? Didn't Hoshi crush the rebellion when she got the Defiant?

So, from what it appears you're saying here, it would really make no difference if the RU DSC crew went back and reported what happens to the Defiant, since no matter what, it is going to appear in the MU even if it doesn't go into the interphasic rift in the RU.

If I'v misinterpreted your posts, please explain how.
It would make no difference to the events that occur in the Mirror Universe.

But it would save the lives of the crew who would otherwise have died on the Defiant.

Yes the Shenzhou bridge and the Discovery bridge are one and the same, just redressed.
No they're not. The Shenzhou bridge is raised up because of a mostly-glass floor which is sadly never featured, and far deeper pits for surrounding consoles. The DSC bridge is pretty much on the ground.

It's not their first rebellion, it's not going to be their last.

Meanwhile any Vulcan rebellion is unlikely to be the entire planet working together.

If only a few thousand Vulcans rebel at any one time, then you still have the millions strong puppet collaborating government maintaining Terran Imperial law, as well as the billions more Vulcans who almost might have their own rebellion, or they are just keeping their eyes locked on their shoes waiting for death.

Scarring organs is probably a kink for Klingons if throwing stuff is foreplay.

Elizabeth Keen on The Black List last week tricked this baddie into eating powdered glass because he thought that she was fooled into thinking that he was harmless and friendly, so that by the time he's ready to pounce on Keen, he's coughing up blood and shredded stomach lining, ignorant that he's already lost.

If I were to pick a character who seems incongruously average looking, I'd actually say it's Shazad Latif. Not that he's ugly by any means, but he's kind of gangly and the beard with the undefined neck does him no favors, which makes him a bit surprising to cast as the "romantic interest" for SMG's character.

Those are fighting words, Sir. *removes glove and slaps eschaton across the face*

I challenge you to a duel, i must defend Shazad Latif's honour.

:D

Just watched all the Mirror U eps series-wide.... Enterprise's entry, 'In A Mirror Darkly', and TOS' original entry 'Mirror Mirror' feel the most relevant to Discovery. The DS9 entries really just seem to show the Mirror U post-Terran Empire, though DS9's first Mirror ep, 'Crossover', explains how the Terran Empire fell, mainly because of Spock's actions.

It's weird, I thought we had both more info on the Mirror U (from canon TV episodes only), and more episodes themselves but there really are just a handful.

LOL. Why are you trying to label Mary Wiseman's look as some ideal 'norm' for women... it really shouldn't be.
That's the equivalent of asking all men to look like Neelix (LOL), she's basically the female equivalent.

She's a goofy comedic relief character played by a goofy looking actress. Melissa McCarthy in space.

Nothing more, nothing less.

My bigger issue with this character is that she exists to begin with, and does not fit with the structure of the series, and that she's a 30 something year old Cadet....awkward.

Since when Mary Wiseman goofy looking? I think some people's labeling her as the "goofy" or "defying beauty standards" or "overweight" are the ones with the problem here.

And what the hell is wrong with a 30 yr old cadet? I didn't decide on my career until I was 28 and started at the bottom. I knew a VP at my last job that quit at 58 and went back to school to become an accountant. It happens.

I'm sorry we can't all be you, super slim, model good looks, confident and assertive, wealthy and successful at 22.

Wow. This may be the first time I witness something I have only ever read about...Ship wars and fights over which characters are hawt. See, I didn’t engage in fandom of anything much prior to joining this BBS, so this is new for me.
We have pro Tilly camps, anti Tilly camps, pro Ash camps, anti Ash camps. I have read about this... (and watched Shatner deal with it on twitter.)
Tell me...when do we get to he flame wars? Cos I kinda want to just watch from the sidelines at that point. Is there any danger of obsessive slash fic fans turning up en masse? Cos I saw some of the J7 and Janeway/Torres stuff in archives, and don’t think I want to witness that horror and the music videos first hand, especially not if it’s like...I dunno...Stamets/Lorca or Tilly/next actual female that’s not Burnham to get more than one line. That stuff gets Klingon torture grade fast from what I have seen....
I will hold my centrist position..DSC sucked, got better, I still watch and reserve my complaints for some things and praise for others. I will be like Switzerland in these fan wars.

So everyone has to start the Academy when they are a teenager? We have plenty of adults today who go to college/university later in life or change career

Personally, I can tell they did it on purpose because past Trek shows have always cast traditionally attractive women in the lead roles (Tpol, Hoshi, Uhura [hot when she was young], Troi, Seven, Jadzia, etc].

Now that there are female and gay producers they are pushing a new agenda. It is what it is.

The only hot female on the STD cast is buried in makeup, playing the Airium alien, lol. That was intentional I'm sure. I'm cool with it, the show has bigger problems than what the actors look like.

What has happened in the past is not indivcitive of either the present or the future.

What does the gender or sexual orientation of the producers have to do with anything? The flip side of the coin to your allusions about their agenda is that previous producers where also pushing their agenda.

I would have hoped we had reached a point where soceity stops objectiving people as having to look and/or behave a certain way.
