I don't know why Scotty didn't do the beaming himself anyway in Tholian Web..
Normally in such critical situations Scotty does the beaming or sometimes even Spock especially when Kirk's life is on the line.
So if they're reusing the red sleeve footage I'll look out for it in other episodes.

I think there's also a scene in the episode where Doohan has got his darker greased hair just for a moment rather than his grey top! A scene taken from another earlier episode I guess but I wonder why they mixed up the season three Scotty hair episodes and the second season Chekov shows too on first broadcast? Didn't they think anyone would notice?

Try watching T.J. Hooker. During the later seasons, they start re-using whole car chases from prior episodes. And they re-use spectacular (expensive) crashes and explosions. The set-up always involves using a matching car for the new story, and that car doubles for the old one that's going get into a chase and maybe fly off a parking ramp or burst into flames.

This has probably been mentioned before but "Is There in Truth No Beauty" there is a shot of the viewscreen when they are re-entering the galaxy where you see the backs of two goldshirts manning helm and navigation but during that manoeuvre Spock was manning navigation I think.

I've been watching T.J. Hooker for the first time recently. This practice actually starts in the first season - there are a ton of stock shots that show up whenever there's a car chase or driving scene of some kind. I haven't seen any stock explosions yet, but I imagine they really start to pinch pennies in the fifth season, when the show's budget was slashed.

I believe there is an episode of Starsky and Hutch like that where they lifted an entire chase scene from an earlier episode even down to the same villain they were chasing!

MacGyver also did an episode that used a lot of footage from The Naked Jungle (1954) starring Charlton Heston. Of course, the ants had all the best lines.

A first season episode of The A-Team, "The Beast From the Belly of a Boeing," dealt with a hijacked airplane and reused the climatic shot from the 1980 comedy Airplane! of a plane dramatically crashing through the window of the airport. Unfortunately, the A-Team editors failed to notice that one of the extras in that shot was literally throwing away a baby as the plane crashed through the window. Pretty much every shot of an airplane in flight on that show was stock footage, I think.

A later fifth season episode of The A-Team reused almost the entire opening scene from the first season episode "Holiday in the Hills," with a few additional inserts of new character Frankie Santana edited in.

TIH's "747" was another one based around reused footage. And I recall seeing that crash from Airplane! show up somewhere on TV...may have been that A-Team episode.

I remember that.
I always wondered what happened to Spock. I suppose story-wise Kirk could have sent Spock on some errand but he would have explained it on screen.

I always noticed the difference between the grids and the bulbs on the nacelles! I assumed the grids meant that the main plasma engines were closed at that time!
