Yet, you were the first one to bring up the diversity issue in this thread.
As the season has worn on, the diversity issue (with respect to the actors and production staff's public comments), has continued to diminish. Some folks around here continue to bring it up, however, for whatever reason.
Here? To show what I think professional critics focused on. As Star Trek fans we all know and expect diversity to be part of Star Trek. It is one of the positive aspects of all the Trek shows.
I often wonder this myself.

Nonetheless, you were still the first and only poster to bring up diversity in this thread. I think you may have some resentment about the diversity in DSC and you are expressing that resentment through passive/agressive opinions like, 'critics like the show because they bought into the producers promotion of DSC's diversity' (paraphrasing).
No, you want Star Trek to be what YOU want it to be. There's a big difference there.

Interesting the focus on diversity..yes. I think Star Trek has always been diverse, and anyone who says, it's about time this or that, is being ignorant of the history of the franchise. I can give a great example. Riker falls in love with an androgynous species that apparently can become male or female upon choice thru simple surgery. I assume their body is sort of maleable once a gender is chosen, a simple genetic addition of a Y or X chromosome can change their DNA structure to become a particular gender. Now, their love was ultimately doomed, but Riker was definitely on the cusp of being madly in love with a nonmale, nonfemale alien. If that's not the definition of gender, race, and species, along with transgender and intersex feelings that Riker became aware of, then the definition of diversity for some people is limited to skin..that's unfortunate. Also, to accuse someone of being the first to bring up the topic of "diversity" insinuating by that sentence of being against diversity as to cast a bigoted aspersion is quite nasty. You should at least apologize..I would.. That's like calling him a racist..or bigot, or sexist. By implication..it's obvious. We can all As mostly adults, discuss the topic of diversity in Star trek, along with its uses, it's triumphs, and the shady practice of using it as gimmicks, in a purely rational way.
I think it's pretty obvious by the "virtue signalling" comment that Gblews made the correct assumption. I'd like to ask what is even wrong with trying to be more diverse and inclusive in representation on a show which has always been lauded as pushing the boundaries of social justice issues, anyway. Some people take offense at that, however, and try to imply that any such movement in that direction is too politically correct (whatever that means) and "forced". Next we'll be hearing about SJWs and feminist agendas. What's wrong with a show blatantly advertising that it's trying to be more representational? As a marketing strategy it might just work to draw in more viewers. Whether it succeeds in creating a lasting fan base or not, though, we'll just have to wait and see.

You're criticizing that there is too much focus on diversity by CBS marketing and critics and the writing is being ignored. Whether that is the same as "too much diversity in Disco" is a semantic nitpick I have no interest in engaging you on, but I wasn't putting words in your mouth and I don't think anyone was misled. The point is this is not true. The only one focusing on diversity is you.
Really? Let's see then. If it were actually true that positive critics are mostly focused on diversity, it should be apparent. You've stated this, but you certainly haven't shown it. It seems this idea is something you constructed because you are focused on it and/or need an excuse to dismiss the majority.
He was the first, which is a fact, not an accusation. No one should apologize for an "implication" just because you imagined it, for the same reason Satron wouldn't need to apologize for being "racist" just because someone accused him of such - which, by the way, no one did.
The reason it's mentioned that he brought it up is because he claims that "the gaggle of professional critics" are blinded by it and that he "doesn't care" about it when in fact he and others like him seem to be the only "critics" actually talking about it.

Yes. I want it to be good. What you and I consider to be good differs.
