Have we all noticed that, so far on The Orville, our humans have a zero batting average at persuading aliens to change their ways?![]()
No, that's 100% batting average as to staying neutral and not trying to change another culture.

It's what came to my sleepy brain!I know. You bombarded me with one example. And it's not even sci-fi! Cop-out!

Yep, although predictable that he got interrupted just in time. Of course, I thought it was hilarious that they cut right to Admiral I-Designed-The-Titanic!I really really wanted Bortus to sing My Heart Will Go On.![]()
It would be hilarious if it is an intentional joke to rile up the nitpickers, but somehow I suspect it's probably just an honest mistake. And to be fair, it's easily reconcilable, IIRC the first Olympia wasn't actually named on screen, we just know the name from stuff MacFarlane posted online afterwards. So if it comes down to it, than canonically speaking the larger ship has no name and the smaller one is the real Olympia. So is the Olympia thing just a mistake, or something to mess with the OCD crowd? It has shown up twice, once it was bigger than the Orville, the next time it was smaller.![]()

Ah well, still less of an issue than the D-7 debacle on Discovery.
I think Bortus getting interrupted is better than actually hearing him sing "My Heart Will Go On." Part of making it work is the teasing and mystery of not knowing what is missed and filling in the blank with imagination.
In any case, both the interruption and "You will be silent!" were absolutely hilarious.
It really seems like Yaphit was not affected by the pheromone because it clearly seems it impacts the person who touched to fall for the person they touched. (Ed and Kelly for ARL) So if Yaphit was affected by the pheromone [he] should have fallen for ARL, not continued his love for Finn, he was able to become a carrier without being infected with it, and he was able to transfer to Finn through the bouquet of flowers (the pheromones "sticking" to him more, him not absorbing them and them simply transferring.)
