Well, to each their own. The shower was one scene and the show was really so much more than that. The series was also set back in the 50s, so yeah, they'll have outdated thoughts! I standby by the idea that MASH is a great show. Fine if you disagree of course.
Again, that scene taking up the shower tent was in the film, not the TV show, so it was actually no scene at all on the show (not "one scene").

I think Bortus getting interrupted is better than actually hearing him sing "My Heart Will Go On." Part of making it work is the teasing and mystery of not knowing what is missed and filling in the blank with imagination.

In any case, both the interruption and "You will be silent!" were absolutely hilarious.

My expectation was Bortus would start singing with a Celine Dionesque voice :)

Actually, I have similar thoughts about Bortus singing. Not necessarily that he sounds like Celine Dion, but that he does have a wonderful singing voice and could deliver a beautiful and emotional rendition of My Heart Will Go On, completely at odds with the gruff exterior he always projects.

A musical episode would be all kinds of awesome, though something I'd even settle for is even if an episode started off with a montage of all the characters doing their things with a song being sung throughout, and at the end we discover it is in fact Bortus singing the song. That would be a pretty great scene.

Malloy's weird quasi-homophobia seemed very out of place as well.

Ehh, it kind of fit his character. He's an old school, reckless, beer drinking pilot that plays practical jokes. His whole archetype is rather a throwback and seems to be the type that would be a little bit disturbed. Plus, he's Ed's old friend, and knows its out of character *for him.* He might not have cared if anyone else was acting like that, but was uncomfortable with his friend acting that way.

It is good that the thread has actually returned to the actual topic. Let's please try to keep it that way. Discussions about important real-world issues are good to have when inspired by the show/film at the center, but do try to keep things at least associated with said sci-fi topic and avoid the personal attacks. Much was veering very far away
