Gave it my first 9. This was good and it felt longer than usual.
I like burnham again...
And
finaly some real meat to the ash=voq theory bone.
Someone said "a sleeper agent" earlier in this thread and thats excactly right, he doesnt even realize his voq. As L'rell told voq the last time we saw him, "you have to sacrifice Everything!"... And with that "soon" comment at the end....its not even a spoiler anymore.

+Good show, good acting..
-No more Trek until january..

Oh and the weakest of Klingons would've squashed Michael like a bug. That fight scene stretched credibility to laughable levels. Might have been the only fun part of the episode.
When Sarek shared his katra with her she also gained Vulcan strength in the process. (C'mon, it makes as much sense as stellar telepathy and spore drives...)

The visuals are still good, but after nine episodes I need more. It's basically a parody on bad cop shows set in a StarTrek universe. A real shame. Awful writers.

Sometimes it is so "Hawaii 5-0 in space".
The two "heroes" entering the bridge in slow motion was sooo "Mcgarrettish" !

Has anyone mentioned that Lorcas override seems to involve the ice cracking on Stamets spore pod Windows in the same way that we had the space bugs go after Michaels transport way back in episode three when he happened to pick her up?
Is this how he survived the destruction of his earlier ship? I.e he didn’t and he is a baddy Space spore taking Human form same as Stamets is now Toad from super Mário, complete with warp pipe navigation?
Or am I misremembering.
(Some of this post is actual supposition, some of it is not. But not giving Stamets a woolly hat in red and white is a missed opportunity.)
That ice cracking will be important though. Especially if the mushroom network turns out to be sentient.

I'm done with this show. I thought it was only going to get better after the magic episode, but having one decent episode a season is not worth spending so much time watching it. I guess I'll be waiting another ten years for a new StarTrek. STD is so bad that when the brand association isn't enough to make it entertaining to watch.

So, we'll see you back here voicing displeasure in Jan I'll assume?

No, they med-evaced the Admiral and the Discovery was headed to the Starbase, where I'm sure L'Rell would have been questioned.

They never made it, so she's still on the ship.

Because plot, sadly.

They either have plans for how L'Rell will help them while stranded in alternate universes, or they need her there to further Ash...umm...coming out of his shell. Probably both.

In contrast, they had nothing more to do with Admiral Cornwell, so they put her on a bus...almost literally.

I think Discovery was in a star fleet alternate universe and I don't mean the mirror universe. At the end of the episode they could have jumped into the Star Trek canon universe.
The producers have stated that it's the Prime timeline and they've put a lot of Easter eggs in to that effect. So, I don't think what you're suggesting is true. Granted, that could be a surprise they have in store for us, but I don't think so.

The producers have said that it "takes place in the prime timeline." Technically, even if only one episode this season took place in prime, this would be correct.

Looks like most of the debris is Klingon

I kind of doubt that's where they're going with this. Discovery might have moved very far into the future, or very far into the past; it might be on the other side of the galaxy way off in the Gamma Quadrant or it might be in another galaxy altogether.

I don't think it's a coincidence that Lorca knows about the parallel universes and also aborted a jump. I'm pretty sure they're in a parallel universe and will need to find their way back. I'm not sure how long of an arc that will be? The rest of the season? The rest of the series? They need to get the cloaking algorithm to the rest of the fleet so there is some urgency!

First proper Star Trek "mid-season finale", in history, if memory serves.
The one I remember was Azati Prime in Enterprise's 3rd Season. It was not a Christmas break, but we had to wait 7 weeks for the next episode.
And what a cliff hangar it was! Enterprise being pummeled, crew flying out of breaches in the ship, Archer about to be handed over to the reptiles, etc.

Couldn't give a shit? If you're only watching this show for character development and emotional moments, that's stupid, you should watch straight drama. They are much better for this. This is mostly a sci-fi action-adventure series. There was indeed great character moments in this episode (Michael with Tyler) but let's not get overboard. It was mostly an action-adventure episode. The Discovery characters are indeed great. They grow on me a lot.
Now you're sounding like me in that other thread! ;)

Fantastic episode!! 10/10!

I don't have anything more to add now as it's already been said, but I can't wait until January 7th!
