Enjoyed it! But jumping jackrabbits that first mind meld scene was cheesy! How weird does Burnham run btw? Still having problems hearing/discerning some of the dialogue but that maybe due to my fellow Brits questionable Yank accents! I'm getting a serious 'Caine Mutiny' vibe from Lorca's constant cracking of the fortune cookies or whatever they are! I presumed that Lorca has the pistol in his belt because he wasn't prepared to have his command taken from him and thought the knock at the door might have been from the Admiral's people? Still think Lorca is an unknowing Klingon....maybe!
Yeah Burnham runs really strangely, the blood on Sarek wasn't the best either, it looked like it had just been squirted on like sauce which is not how blood acts at all, still the episode was great so it wasn't a big deal really.

Could be Tyler, Lorca or someone else entirely at this point.

Anyone think there may be some significance in the fact that Lorca seemed not to remember the night that Cornwall and he went stargazing or whatever it was they did?

Could just be more misdirection by the writers or as you say a hint that Lorca may not be who we think he is.

Yet I just don't see it as an option, there are so many ways an augment can be identified, plus they would have had to have full physicals before being allowed to resume their duties.

Starfleet cant be that stupid can they.

Humans don't lie or cheat any more.

They are Smurfs.

Imagine you're a psychiatrist, who has only had to treat Smurfs your whole professional career, and then in walks Larry David.

Yes, it means he didn't care for her much, it's just if he remembers her name, but was willing to sleep with her so she views him more favorably in the future investigations about his actions. #devious #malewhore

On the other hand. Maybe it's a way to show us Lorca is a changed man. He's ptsd-like. Full of dark thoughts and forgot about the beautiful things in life.

I'm not ready to assume he deliberately tried to send her into a trap/harm's way in order to keep Discovery.

He absolutely did. That he shot down Saru's rescue suggestion by showing very atypical caution confirmed it as far as I'm concerned. He knew what he was doing.

This is the first episode I've enjoyed with almost no reservations. I finally have a sense what's going on with Michael and Lorca as far as thier motivations are concerned. I like the idea of Lorca as a tough-but-fair captain who gives his crew what they want to engender loyalty, while being an unstable liar behind the scenes to keep command. It's not totally consistent with what we'd seen of him so far, but I'll take it. At least it's internally consistent and makes sense.

There was theory floating around a few weeks ago that Lorca is from the Mirror Universe; this week got me thinking about it again. Maybe he's Mirror!Lorca, maybe he's a Klingon, but I'm starting to believe that, one way or another, the real Gabriel Lorca never made it off the USS Buran.

Personally I think the problem is desk jockey Admirals myself, so far the Admirals we have seen act like they bypassed captaincy completely and went straight from Cadet to Admiral with no lessons learned in between.

Then again perhaps its the smart Captains who know better than to accept the promotion in the first place.

I also liked the continuity of the Vulcan/Human relationship that was done in Enterprise. The Vulcans still don’t trust Humans

But it's more than just that. It shows the diversity of thought amongst the Vulcans. One of the bits of unrealism in all the various Star Trek series has been, to a certain extent, the homogenized nature of each of the alien species. Vulcans are always logical--barring one-off's like Sybok--Klingons are honour-obsessed, Andorians are angry, etc., etc. Humans have a diversity of opinions, shapes, sizes, etc. but many alien species do not seem to've been blessed with that kind of spectrum...at least until very recently (say, "Enterprise"-era storytelling).

To me, it's nice to see that even Vulcans have their extremists (from our POV).

Or...That something has happened to him in that Klingon cell that has subtly changed his memories/DNA? After all 'Lethe' is one of the rivers of the underworld where all who drink from it experienced ' forgetfulness and oblivion'..Or maybe- as you say - he was so plastered he couldn't remember knocking boots with her ha!

For the prosecution I present the behaviour of Landry ep 3 M'lud! Ha!

Good episode
I knew the admiral wasn't coming back from the peace mission the moment she said Lorca has to step down upon her return.
Too much talk of Katra in this episode and also the ENT vulcan episodes. Is Kirk the only person who hasn't heard of Katra?
Apparently Kirk is the only one clueless about Katra. I still believe he and Spock had some deep discussions over chess that were not shown onscreen. Along with some mind melds (jmho) I will admit to not watching many ENT eps, So not too clear about the Human/Vulcan issues (I know it was not smooth sailing at first. But at least Spock decided to serve aboard a ship with a human crew and learned to live with it, even make some deep friendships.
