If you watch the entire first season you'll hear the theme fifteen times. Plus you've already heard it at least once already.I don't think I've ever sat through anything from Star Trek that many times. You'rev talking to someone who has legitimately walked away from Star Trek at one point for a good two or three years.
At a certain point, if something has to be a certain way to be Star Trek, that's not a good thing.Seems more like something from Westworld then Startrek.
Well, if there's one 'streaming show' trope that ST: D fits - it's that...IE - We're Original Streaming Content ergo, the Emmys will LOVE US now.The titles evoke a sense that...there's a marketing and design company out there looking for an Emmy nomination...

I like how "modern Trek" now means the stuff that's only 20-30 years old rather than 50.At a certain point, if something has to be a certain way to be Star Trek, that's not a good thing.
Like a lot of things in modern Trek, the main title sequence became formulaic. This is different. I think it's good, not amazing, but I like that it's different.
I only exclude TOS since it was first, and not so much formulaic by virtue of being the first to do the things in Trek.I like how "modern Trek" now means the stuff that's only 20-30 years old rather than 50.![]()
Just making the point that with Discovery we need a new catch-all term for 1987-2005.I only exclude TOS since it was first, and not so much formulaic by virtue of being the first to do the things in Trek.
Berman era Star Trek.Just making the point that with Discovery we need a new catch-all term for 1987-2005.
True. Title sequences may be the only things that count for me.If you watch the entire first season you'll hear the theme fifteen times. Plus you've already heard it at least once already.![]()
Snooze TrekBerman era Star Trek.
Well, this is a streaming series in most of the world, so reruns won't be an issues for the vast majority of people.Wait till you've sat through it at least fifteen times plus reruns.![]()
Yeah, I've noticed that too.2001: this is dumb. Everything is the same.
2017: We hate this! It's too different!
That's the gimmick. Not liking this right now. It appears kinda rushed, like someone made a quick sketch for a storybord.
After all this is a space show, why is there no space?
