Hemsworth confirms that he is in ST4

Looks that way.

What is not known is whether or not there'll be any more Kelvinverse films AFTER it.

That's an article that was written just before the films release, when they were expecting a $450 million dollar plus take. Things have changed somewhat. Not saying it's not happening, but things are awfully quiet 6 months on from release.

I am a little bit surprised ST4s production is moving along so quickly after Beyond. The third one was not a smash hit, usually the studio delays production because they got cold feet. I suppose they learned that a 4 year gap between the 2009 movie and Into Darkness was not a great idea (which it wasn't). I am happy ST4 appears to be moving forward. The early announcement of Hemsworth and the role he has is in stark contrast with Cumberbatch.

It all seems a bit quiet to me bar the Hemsworth announcement and that was ages ago.

theres not much news for 2019 films at the moment (other than Batman but thats because its seemingly in turmoil) No doubt we'll be hearing some solid stuff soon -director, release date (probably May 2019),

It may not have been a "smash hit" but it was the highest grossing Paramount film of 2016. Even Paramount is smart enough to see where the money is, and to back the winning horse.

New movie will go ahead, especially since Paramount appears to be selling out to Chinese investors and Trek did pretty well there, I think it did better than Star Wars. Gotta keep your franchise strong in that growing market.

There's also Godzilla 2, which starts filming this summer, aiming for March 2019.

Last we saw, Pegg was seen teasing they were working on the script. I'd say unless the studio hates it the film is a given.

By the time 2018 rolls around, Beyond will easily have reached $400 million from secondary disc and digital sales and most likely will have far surpassed it. The Chinese Beyond licensing deal most likely cemented what is already a $500 million revenue figure.
