Warner bros announce superhero films through 2020

I'm a little surprised to see them going back to Goyer, but I'm still optimistic, and I think the of doing a buddy cop GL movie has a lot of potential.
I blame any issues with MoS and BvS on Snyder more than Goyer.

2020 is a good year to end the DCEU. I had feared that Warner Bros. would try to stretch it out too long, which is what happening with Disney/MCU right now. Because when dealing with serial story like this, it's best to plan an ending.
 
They're not ending the DCEU in 2020, that's just as far ahead as they've revealed. If the movies suddenly start bombing then it might end, but we still have Wonder Woman, JL(A?), The Flash, Aquaman, GLC, The Batman (or whatever it's going to be called), Birds of Prey/Gotham CIty Sirens/Whatever Margot Robbie's Harley Quinn/Women of DC movie ends up being called, and I think possibly a second Superman movie before we get to the end of DC's planned movies. I have a feeling if even a few of those are successful we'll see the DCEU go beyond 2020. The MCU was originally announced as just the movies leading up to the first Avengers movie, and it's gone way beyond that.

The only one of those I've seen is DKR and I like it.:shrug:

Why? In fact it's probably easier to do it with two, if one's a veteran and the other the rookie you can basically dump a lot of exposition through dialogue without it being too weird if you mask it properly.

Hmmmm . . . too bad. Now the DCEU and MCU will be never ending.
 
I would love to see this happen just to watch fanboy heads explode. Apparently, one of the names in consideration to play Hal Jordan is... Ryan Reynolds? What?:cardie::eek::lol:

The GL movie is incompatable with the DCEU in more ways than one, not the least of which is it's portrayal of Amanda Waller. Once upon a time, I wouldn't have minded the attempt to incorporate it, but at this point, it's like trying to incorporate Ang Lee's Hulk into the MCU. Maybe the GL movie took place on a parallel Earth, and he could be a parallel Hal. Anyway, it does seem highly doubtful, but it's amusing to think about.

I suspect it's more that this is the kind of generic leading-man wish list that would be generated for any project in its preliminary stages. After all, they're nowhere near the point of actually casting anyone. This is just the stage where ideas get tossed on the table. Reynolds is popular right now, so it's not surprising that some execs or businesspeople at the studio would be willing to consider him as an option, even if they know it's unlikely.

And let's not forget: Deadpool was the second time Reynolds played Wade Wilson. The first, in X-Men Origins: Wolverine, was a far worse disaster than his turn as Hal Jordan -- but he nonetheless was given a second chance to play the same character in a different continuity (or the same one altered by time travel), and was able to get it right the second time around. Given that, maybe it's not so insane to consider giving him a chance to do the same with Hal.
 
I thought he was fine as Hal. (Full disclosure: I like the Green Lantern movie). There are structural issues with the story and with the edits, but Reynolds was low on the list of things wrong.
