It makes one wonder if Janeway got her little revenges in on Chakotay for getting with a young woman, right under her nose ... and before her very eyes. Sending him on suicide missions, and so on ...
I put nothing past her. I blame Q, though, really. True, Janeway didn't want him knocking her up, but still ... what having an ALL powerful, omnipotent being trying desperately to get in her pants must've done for her ego. So that everyone who lusts after her, now, is only following their natural instincts. Who's Chakotay, then - a mere mortal - to give up his crush on her? Everybody on the ship was aware of his aching ... his longing ... his yearning for her all these years. But no ... he had to rub it in, by getting with the ship's most titivated tart, bringing Janeway's cougarness into sharp relief. Oh, yes ... this insult demanded no less than making an example of Chakotay ... for ALL to see!Or time travelling back 30 years to sidetrack the poor boy's bllissful marriage to the love of his life, during his first date?

Wow, you do see people in pretty awful terms
Wow, you do see people in pretty awful terms
I just put him in the 'he's being sarcastic' file and move on.
I don't think there's ever any need to become personal.
No need to apologise. I am made of sterner stuff. But I appreciate the courtesy. I surely do. Now, that I've gotten personalised attention, acknowledgement and kudos, we can get back to talking about STAR TREK: Voyager, particularly as it pertains to Chakotay, Seven and Janeway ...
It's been suggested to me, before, that Kathryn represented a "dream" for Chakotay, one of those "wouldn't it be nice if it could work out between us" kind of things. Because it certainly didn't prevent him from procuring punani, whenever and wherever he could find it. But pipedreams never come true, so - outside of Voyager's desperate situation - it's a wonder why Chakotay held onto it, for as long as he did. She didn't want him. So ... what's with the books having married them, anyway? It's just fan service ... kind of insulting, really. It's like breaking the 4th Wall ...
Unfortunately without key dialog we're left to assume either way. (whether she blew him off or if they talked about it but we didn't get to see it play out)Well, it's good to know, then, that the books didn't just force a Chakotay/Janeway romance to give fans what the show would not. I don't want to give the wrong impression, either, though. If Chakotay and Janeway couldn't keep their hands off of eachother for the entire television series' run, nobody would've been happier about it, than I. Chakotay's a favourite character of mine, he wanted Janeway as his woman ... and he got her! Good ... great! Fine. But she soundly and repeatedly rejected him on the show. I'm kind of amazed, really, that it didn't put him off. To hell with her, Chakotay ... you know? Snap out of it ...
Another "Chakotay's ultimate fan girl" here. You are absolutaly right- This guy looks great now with the dyed hair.I have a reputation as Chakotay's ultimate fan girl to defend here (In Germany we have a saying that roughly translates to: once you ruined your reputation you are free to do whatever pleases you - I am living up to that here) so let me say this: I think the guy doesn't look half bad now for being over 60. Sure, he could lose a few pounds, but honestly, who couldn't?
