Why did Chakotay Choose to be with seven instead of janeway?

Chakotay needed a woman's Love, like any Man does. But he must be reasonable! A woman's rejection may sting, at first ... but it's also an opportunity. Some of God's Greatest Gifts are Unanswered Prayers. Janeway always struck me as though she'd probably be a Dead Fish in the ol' proverbial sack. It's been pointed out to me that Seven of Nine would do no better. That she's rather like a walking computer circuit. I don't know. Seska, though ... she's the kinda woman who'd make Chakotay late for work, every morning. She's just the kind ... I don't know. Why couldn't Kellin stick around, you know? She was beautiful & good for him ...

While Janeway flirted with Chakotay at the beginning of their commanding pairing, she made him eventually understand later, that she was not interested to pursue a relationship with him, Seven started a romance with the 1st Officer, more out of curiosity than by for a real interest for him. Why? Because we never saw what made Seven pass of using a holo-Chakotay as her sample mate in the holodeck to simulate relationships, in "Human Error", to date the real Chakotay in Endgame...
(It would have been interesting to see 1 or 2 episode(s) that bridges this gap, showing why Seven initiated the decision to take the next step; why Chakotay accepted the offer and finally, how they were supposed to become a couple? In fact, in default of appreciating this pairing, we would have been able at least to understand the why, even if this romance doomed to failure* even before having seriously begun! -> 4 weeks bfore the break-up?!)

* I do not see how it could be otherwise in view of their respective expectations (for Seven, to date the holo-Chakotay or the real Chakotay, it remains an experience (surely pleasant) to be lived, as a necessary phase to move forward in the discovery of her individuality and to become fully human. As for Chakotay, to date the young and sexy Seven, soothes his ego and it's a pretty good consolation with regard to his 7 years of forced celibacy ... even if he would never admitted it. But at the end, each will come to his/her senses after this short (but rather pleasant for both) interlude and they will eventually leave friendly -> post-Voyager books written and the only webserie ever been made, completly gave up the idea of Chakotay/Seven!

Chakotay and Seven was written in at the request of an annoyed Robert Beltran, who wanted "to give his character something to do" (hey, don't forget that he was an unhappy man payed highly paid, poor guy! :rommie:).

What has begun as a stupid bet* (that Chakotay and Seven kiss) from Beltran to Braga, one of the Voyager's producers who was at this time, Ryan's boyfriend, became a creative accident, which pissed off J/C's shippers AND the non-J/C, just because ...well, it was lame!

* Beltran dared Braga to write it in, and he did (for once RB was heard in 4 years!) So why is he so critical about C/7, knowing perfectly that he is the main cause?

Wait he was critical of the pairing when he himself provoked it? How entitled! That's just dumb

Why did he choose Seven instaed of Janeway? Why should he choose Janeway when she didn`t want him all over the years? Why should he choose Janeway when he can have Seven?

I believe I had earlier asked this question - why was the choice up to Chakotay? Because he was a man? Why are we discussing about whether he "chose" Janeway or Seven? Why didn't we start this discussion about Janeway or Seven "choosing" him?

Have you ever seen a woman pursue a man chase him, woo him, seduce him, convince him how wonderful she is and they will be wonderful together? How often does that really happen?

Happened to me, and it felt awesome. :)

Beltran complained that he was being ignored for years.

So if Endgame was the beginning of not ignoring Beltran any more, a turn in the tide to where innovations on the Chakotay character would award more care from greater fractions of story matter per week. If this was the turning point and season 8 was where the character would shine and the actor would feel fulfilled.... Then that's just mean.

This is the future we're talking about. Old social constraints have been cast aside. Women can do what they want...and if they want to 'woo' a man, they can and the man will like it.

In The Here & Now, though ... there are Men who don't like it. Myself among them. I don't care for the aggressiveness of it ... 2takesfrakes appreciates the subtle advance! I believe the Man should always be dominant in a relationship.

Okay maybe in the future-but do girls in high school hang around lockers ask names and then ask guys out?

When guys are unwilling or hesitant do females get aggressive and you know kind of pressure the guy into it?

As a male myself(who has never dated by the way) I would be flattered and impressed if a woman pursued me like that-the problem is for one societal constraints haven't worn off, two in society today I would look bad/shy/weak/or whatever if I wasn't the pursuer, and 3 most women would never entertain themselves being the instigator-maybe in the 24th century that will be loosened-maybe society will be kinder to shyer, more socially awkward guys like me by letting females instigate relationships(God forbid customs be broken).

The problem with C/7 is that it is fake contrived, and quite frankly repulsive in its insincerity.

Harry/7 as I always have said makes way more sense-and quite honestly if Harry could never get promoted he at least earned the beautiful woman.

If a woman asks you on a dinner date, they pay for dinner, then you get a free meal.

Free meal.

It's a game therefore, where you see how many free meals you can chow down on without putting out, you massive tease.

Warren Beatty - who teamed up with Robert Beltran in Bugsy - says that:

"Charity is taking an ugly girl to lunch."

I don't think Warren's definition of Ugly, when he said that, is the same as our definition of ugly today. He was probably talking about a California 8, meanwhile we in the real world 2016, consider ugly to be someone who would say like that about women, even if it was meant satirically.

You wouldn't look weak. Men spend too much time worrying about something that 'might make them look weak'. Most of the time, it doesn't so they worry for nothing.
