Why did Chakotay Choose to be with seven instead of janeway?

Beltran and Mulgrew got really haggard-looking towards the end of VOYAGER's run, there, but even then, they never, like, let themselves "go," really. They just got old and didn't want to get more plastic surgery done, that's all. Even then, they wouldn't have looked too bad, together, really, when you think about it. But at the time Chakotay got with Seven, Robert still had that "Chakotay" look going, so it worked. It didn't seem so unbelievable that he'd attract a proverbial Gold Digger, or whathaveyou ...
I confirm what said Katinka, Janeway is a passionate being when she allows herself to be. And if she believes to have met the right person, she wouldn't hesitate to make the big move or to answer equally, while trying to remain faithful to her convictions and to Starfleet, of course.
In spite of not finding THE ONE during these 7 years, she didn't become frigid for all that, enjoying all occasions she had, to flirt (with Chakotay, Krashyk, the evil Devor officer, in Counterpoint -> if their paths had crossed again, it would have been a safe bet to that she take the plunge and sleeps with him, in spite of his initial betrayal!) and to have sex after a short courtship (with Jaffen, in Workforce, even if Janeway was amnesic ; with Michael Sullivan, a holo Irish bartender, with the encouragements of the good Doctor).
Anyway, in all these occasions (Fair Haven, Workforce* and Couterpoint), it was nice to see Janeway gets freaky (passionate, playful, funny).
* Seriously, Janeway/Jaffen made a lovely couple...and James Read always so sexy!
And yes, about Chakotay/Seven, I have never seen two people, supposed to be attracted to one another - even if this was just the beginning of their romance -, being so unenthusiastic! Even their kisses were dispasionate - compared to Janeway & her men, Paris/Torres, Kim & his alien lover, Neelix/Kes - as if Beltran (while the rumor said that he was the one who has given the idea of a kiss between his character and Ryan's 7 of 9, to Braga) and Ryan herself, held on**... But for what? That an alchemy which has never trully existed between them (for lack of scenes together, I guess) appears as if by magic?! I mean, after several dates, we expect more ardor from their characters, especially Chakotay (Seven being still novice/stranger to love, her shyness is understandable), who is supposed to be a smooth talker with women - ok, not as prolific as Tom's pre-B'Elena period but well - it fell flat!
And then, don't forget that, Seven is supposed to be the woman of his life and that, according to Adm. Janeway, he would be so ravaged by her death that he would let himself die -> I guess that it would take several years for Chakotay to really love Seven, while for Janeway, it took only a few days, even a few weeks!
** Unless it was a request from the director but, if it was to encourage us not to pay too much attention on this romance,we could not make it better!
Well, in the end, both actors concerned seemed very uncomfortable in their scenes together and it was quite awkward to observe!
Ghislaine, you really don't like seeing Seven and Chakotay together, do you?! Although, I must say, your knowledge of VOYAGER is most impressive.

HA! You have to feel bad for these guys that do jump, when the woman they love tells them to F Off. In the TNG episode "The Royale," A notorious cutthroat notes that, "no woman's worth dying for - Killing for! - but not dying for." (of course, a part of me was happy to see that the idea of J/C was completly ruled out - though I have guessed that they would become one of a favourite couples, with Paris/Torres - BUT to the point of having C paired with 7o9, like she was like a consolation prize was rather shocking -> finally, maybe it was a good thing that producers/writers reserved that "surprise" for the 2-part finale! ), To my second visonnage of Endgame with friends, who just finished the series (can you believe that STV was never aired in France?!), I was

Well, what France lacks in STAR TREK it more than makes up for in chic and impeccable style - which STAR TREK should get around to making use of, with this new series, we all hope. I never thought of Seven as Chakotay's "Consolation Prize," but now that you mention it, you know something? You're right! But Chakotay had to get back up on that horse, because that's who Chakotay is. And he had one or two nice girlfriends, did he not? Like Riley the Borg Lady who helped Chakotay convalesce with the kind of medicine you're not going to find in the EMH's medicine cabinet. Kellin is my favourite of them. Chakotay didn't really need to be thrown a bone, I'm sure he appreciated it, though. But the Delta Quadrant wasn't so unfair to him, women-wise. Still in all, those Dry Spells inbetween must've been like vast wasteland .... vast ...!!!

As you know, yesterday, Sunday 4th, it was the third and final day of Mission: New York which was launched by the Voyager cast with their longtime producer Brannon Braga. when asked how they felt about the series ending, Mulgrew said she thought it was sublime (no surprise, knowing that she has taken part of its scriptwriting! ). “Admiral Janeway sacrified her life for Captain Janeway.” McNeill said he wouldn’t change a thing, since he loved B’Elanna barefoot and pregnant, and Picardo mentioned that when Chakotay suddenly scored Seven of Nine, he got a consolation prize of a tall blonde sexy wife.

Chakotay suffered many hardships and deprivations aboard Voyager, until Seven of Nine, if she did, indeed, become his wife. Though I'm uncertain how much of a Consolation Prize she would've been. At least she was there to go to bed with ... that's not a bad start.

I think they missed an opportunity for some drama in the Chakotay/Janeway relationship. After seven years of teasing us with a possible romantic relationship, it would have been interesting to see them finally acknowledge that nothing could happen between them because of their professional relationship. Then you could have him move on with his life by beginning to date 7. Bittersweet romance and all that stuff.

I have a reputation as Chakotay's ultimate fan girl to defend here (In Germany we have a saying that roughly translates to: once you ruined your reputation you are free to do whatever pleases you - I am living up to that here ) so let me say this: I think the guy doesn't look half bad now for being over 60. Sure, he could lose a few pounds, but honestly, who couldn't?
