I'm probably waiting a couple of weeks to see the movie with my niece so hopefully somebody can answer this for me.
A friend saw the movie last night and said that Sulu is seen leaving a woman's room and kisses her.
Is Sulu bi and cheating on his husband? Or in an open marriage? Or did my friend misinterpret something?
That seems like a strange thing to throw in there, and if it's true I'm surprised there hasn't been a flurry of discussion over this.

That does happen but it was a different person entirely and not Sulu. It's a very quick scene so I can see how your friend thought it was him.

I do like that male pregnancy could be an option in the 23rd century, although I don't think a modern audience could deal with it at this point.

As a biologist (doctor of agricultural genetics, actually), I think the artifical womb device for "in vitro" pregnancy would be a much simpler solution. It's actually within even our current, early-XXI century capabilites.

Another Asian crewman (in a blue uniform) kisses a woman, shortly after the two are seen making eyes at each other in the corridor.

I don't recall this happening with anyone who resembled Sulu.

Actually, I quite liked the part with Sulu family. It was well-written, well-linked, and quite touching - the emotions of men, separated for a long time from his belowed ones.

In the same sequence, a young bare-chested guy, who looks a bit like Anton Yelchin (but side-on), is seen being ejected from an Orion woman's cabin. But the very next scene has Chekov on the bridge, so we weren't sure that the young guy with no shirt on was meant to be Chekov or a random crewman.
