Has anyone seen anything regarding tie-in merchandise for Star Trek Beyond? They didn't seem to have a whole lot at Toy Fair or other shows recently. I'm planning (among other things) a JJTrek redshirt costume at DragonCon so I'm hoping that they're going to release toys of the new phasers (The 09/ID model is getting increasingly hard to find). Anyone else hoping for a particular piece of merchandise?
I'm hoping for Beyond merch - namely, both larger electronic light and sound, and smaller diecast versions of: * USS Franklin * Upgraded 1701-A(bramsprise) * Yorktown Starbase * Swarm Drones And I'm open to seeing other miscelanous starships, also seen at Yorktown.
Yeah I've always been surprised at the lack of good quality ships. Not just toys, but like miniature replicas/models with lights and everything. I've seen where people make them by adding the lights themselves or they are sold in limited numbers for hundreds of dollars, but that's it. I would just about kill for a ST 09 or STID Enterprise with working lights.
hopefully the usual book/magazine tie ins - the starlogesque official movie magazine (titan), comic adaptation and/or prequel comics, the novel, Art of/making of book? So used to getting that stuff for each movie now. dont think I could stop even if i wanted to
It's been confirmed over in TrekLit that they're not going to do a novelization of Beyond. Dunno if we're getting a comic adaptation.
Wow. This will be the first trek movie not to get a novel. Wow. STID didn't get a CA (but we did get "Khan") so that was the first trek film not to get a CA (of course TWOK got one 30y late)
I guess they felt that splitting the money four ways (Foster, Paramount, Bad Robot, and CBS/Pocket) wasn't worth it?
Insurrection and Nemesis didn't get comic adaptations either. Meanwhile, it's obvious Beyond won't have a comic prequel like Trek XI or STID did. Probably just as well, STID's set nothing up from the movie except for Mudd's ship. Hell, it even ends with the events being declared secret and that they're never to be spoken of, which is basically a rip-off. Here's a set-up for the new movie, only none of it's important to the movie. Meanwhile, STID didn't have any action figures or any toys at all other than Hot Wheels doing a toy of Vengeance, so I'm doubting there'll be any toys or action figures for Beyond. Really, this movie's looking pretty light for merchandise.
Quite right. Forgot about those two (easily done) Usually a couple months or more before a films release stuff appears on amazon for pre-order (e.g. books) but so far nothing Beyond related.. which is curious
I have a couple friends who also don't get the appeal. I, on the other hand, refuse to buy any because then I'll start buying all of them.
