Worst TNG Episode Ever?

Huh. Insert Fry "can't tell if serious" meme here.

I have zero love for "The Inner Light". Hey, we mind raped you, here's a flute for your trouble. Then you have Riker acting like an absolute idiot back on the Enterprise.

Probably not objectively the worst episode of TNG. But it is definitely near the bottom for me.

These Are The Voyages.

Yes, yes I know it's not technically a TNG episode but it does have inexplicably chubby Riker and strangely older Deanna, so it's close enough.

For me 'The Inner Light' didn't work for two reasons.

1) Much of it didn't have TNG feel to it, a lot of things happened in unfamiliar surrounding with guest stars.
2) Was Picard really ready to return to command of the flagship of the federation after a lifetime on some distant planet...

"Sub Rosa"...............eeeeesh!
"Imaginary Friend"....eeeeesh!
"The Battle".............................not a great Ferengi episode
"Too Short a Season"............ "Benjamin Buttton"?
"The Royael"...........................Weird
"Night Terrors"..........................Thbbbt!
"The Host"...................Eh.

My worst Episode?
"All Good Things" part 2...because TNG was over...

"The Battle".............................not a great Ferengi episode
"Too Short a Season"............ "Benjamin Buttton"?
"The Royael"...........................Weird
"Night Terrors"..........................Thbbbt!

I like all four of these episodes!

That is ok! :techman: My comments were meant to reflect that I did not think they were the greatest!...except for "Night Terrors"

"If Betazoids were meant to fly..."

:)

That one with the planet of scantily-clad blonde people where Wesley crashes into a flowerbed and gets condemned to death.

I feel the same way about that "Remember' episode on Voyager that was originally meant for Troi. I always skip it.

"Manhunt"

Jean-Luc Picard hiding in the holodeck from a switched-onTrois mom?

The whole Dixon Hill thing doesn't ring true whatsoever for the character of Captain Picard. that was a creation of " 80's television writers", not "Science Fiction writers". They put Patrick Stewart in Stacey Keach's role of Mike Hammer.

"Manhunt" is not why I watch Star Trek. "Outrageous Okona" is only equally awful in its Data Does Stand up bits. How awful was that!?!? Guinan's " You're a Droid, and I'm a noid" is burned in my skull forever. Good lord, what terrible Writing. :ack:

I hated those eps too! Any of the Dixon Hill ones. Yuck. They made me cringe.

I have to go with Shades Of Grey. And not just because it was a clip show but because it even failed as a clip show. The point is to show clips you actually want to see again, like a Greatest Hits compilation of scenes. I used to really enjoy them back in the day. Shades Of Grey was mostly a bunch of random clips that didn't provide any entertainment. The plot device wasn't entertaining and neither were the clips, so it failed as an episode and a clip show.

Sub-Rosa. Poorly acted, shot inside a stage and looked like it, the story could've been told in 30 minutes. It's an awful episode.

"worst" is a very nebulous concept. At least most "bad" episodes were at least striving for a sci-fi plot. It I had to sub-categorize:

Most pointless - "Imaginary Friend"
dull and forgettable - "Homeward"
embarrassing (for several reasons) - "Code of Honor"
victim of circumstance - "Shades of Grey"
bad editing/script - "Interface"
worst concept - "Force of Nature"
My personal least favorite - "Up the Long Ladder"

More than even "Code of Honor"? You may not have liked Inner Light, but at least it wasn't offensive and racist! Offensive is WAY worse than not being enjoyable, in my book at least.
Code of Honor is not offensive in any way. I've heard this for years, but nobody has ever been able to tell me why it is. They cast black actors. By today's standards, you'd think that alone would make everybody love it.

And no, it's nowhere near as bad as The Inner Light.

I love the Dixon Hill stuff.

Kor

I liked "The Big Goodbye", and how the Dixon Hill stuff was used in "Manhunt". I was lukewarm to the rest of it.

There's at least a "so bad, it's good" factor to "Code of Honor". There's amusement in the cheese. "The Inner Light" is just deadly dull.

Being offended is a choice though, so Code of Honor isn't automatically bad just because you or others find it offensive. (That said, it's pretty shit no matter how you slice it. ;) )
