Code of Honor

For me personally, it overlaps the groups of "so bad it's good" (occupied by "Spock's Brain," "Move Along Home" and "Threshold") and the "Yikes!" racist episodes like "Tattoo" and "the Paradise Syndrome."

For the record I'm not Black. But the racism is so over the top that, for me personally, it becomes comical. It's like someone on the writing staff was checking off every African and African-American stereotype in existence, cumulating in those disco suits the women fight in. The awful attempts at stage combat, the bad acting, the giant crab claw gloves, and the brain-dead plot just add to the unintentional comedy.

I'm black and I agree that it's so over the top it crosses over into being kind of hilarious. I have no desire to watch the episode again but it's so stupid I couldn't work myself up to be actually upset or offended by it...mostly I just feel baffled the whole time. I can't even imagine what they were thinking.

The aliens were originally supposed to be Reptiles, which would have been expensive.

It would have been peculiar if Yar was still broadcasting horny thoughts about being apprehended by actors wearing Gorn-like green scaly rubber suits, but then that just might be her kink, and the world shipped April and Rapheal fine in "Ninja Turtles".

And it is sexist too!!!

Troi asks Tasha (who, remember, is a prisoner and may even be risking her life) how hot she thinks her captor is. What the hell does whether or not he's attractive have to do with anything? He could be aesthetically disgusting, he could respond perfectly to Tasha's standards of beauty. But it didn't matter at all. She was there as a Star Fleet officer and millions of lives were at stake. What importance did physical appearance have in the whole affair??? It's like saying "You know, as a woman you are not trustworthy if you think you are prey to an attractive and charming man. We need to know precisely how wet you get for him. It is of the utmost importance."
