Worst TNG Episode Ever?

Just got finished watching 'Masks' and I think it takes the cake as the worst TNG episode ever. Anyone else?
I like Masks. Good episode if a little bit silly in places though. For me, if I had to pick the worst episode of TNG it would be The Naked Now (3rd Episode). Why? Basically because it was based on the TOS Episode The Naked Time.

"Shades of Grey" at least had pieces of better episodes in it.

"Up the long ladder" and "Code of Honor" on the other hand were entirely made of bad episode.

Yeah I always scratched my head on that one with why they even bothered.

@GulBahana

Imaginary friend one I like... plays on nice schoolyard heartstrings... the friend under your bed or whatnot (Rihanna calls it friends with the monster inside of my bed...) Outcast for me was just too dull and I didnt at all find any of it as space worthy as other adventures... I also didnt find much chemistry with Riker and yes Minuet is 20x hotter (knockout like you doing in a computer generated gin joint like this... wow... pure Riker...!!!!) Outcast to me was too much dribble.. Soren was looking for a experience.. to me it had nothing to do with Riker and at the end she caved anyway... so I was like.. whats the point

Soren wasn't just looking for an experience. She clearly says that there are people like her who feel like they are one gender or another and seek out relationships with one another, and are in constant danger for doing so. It's not like this was a phase for her.

Also, she didn't "give in." She stood up for herself, against her oppressive government, and in return was literally brainwashed. She made a conscious decision to make a stand against injustice even if she had to suffer the consequences.

Well said. The only thing I found strange about this episode is how quickly Riker "fell in love" with Soren.

I am not in disagreement with the synopsis. I simply found it dull... and theres far too many falling for episodes... I dont think this kind of stuff would fly not to mention the Prime Directive.. Most likely starfleet officers would sign into a code of ethics of somesort.. to protect all parties. you break it, your out

It's amazing how many episodes I see getting thrown up here. I mean everybody has different tastes, but while many of them aren't that great & some are even pretty terrible, out of 7 seasons, people in this thread have condemned nearly an entire season's worth of episodes as being the worst one, when clearly, if you are splicing together a crappy clip show, bookended by some pretty dreadful exposition scenes, that is by far the most powerful example of a cutting edge sci-fi show falling prey to "phoning it in" that there can possibly be imho. Shades of Gray is easily the biggest atrocity they ever fumbled lol
And not only was it an atrocious episode, but a season finale to boot!

Were they waiting for the cancelation phonecall?

In some ways they spent those first two seasons expecting to be cancelled, yes. That, plus a writer's strike, a contract obligation to produce one more episode than they already had, last minute throwing an episode together, & a hackneyed tv show staple idea of a "Clip show" to save time & money (Which they had little of either) & you get the perfect recipe for the lowest quality episode in maybe all of Star Trek

Yeah Picard became a lemur, makes perfect sense you know because that's exactly how evolution works. A lemur evolved to become Picard.
Maybe not lemurs per se, but primates (including humans) are thought to have evolved from shrew-like/weasel-like/sloth-like animals...

So a lemur-like animal -- or at least some sort of weird cross between weasel-like things and primates (a combination that I think might look lemur-like) -- could also be on the human evolutionary tree.

I have "The Outrageous Okona" on now. Yow! This episode is terrible!

Though I have no recollection of what the story is, so I'm sort of interested to see what the point is going to turn out to be. Also a bad sign that I'm at the 18 minute mark and a story hasn't shown up yet.

It's not the worst but I never liked Descent. Data going baaad was a bit too villainy, the borg aren't bothersome and them teaming up with Lore was more of checklist thing for the writers to do than a natural alliance. Picard leaving Data with the sweet talkin' borg in the brig...well you could see from a cosmic mile off that wasn't going to end well. Later Picard, in his escape, simply pulling out the borg wire was a bit too comic for me. Not to mention the entire crew beaming down leaving an inexperienced skeleton crew to deal with a more powerful ship that's gunning for them. Just a very haphazard and odd two parter all in all.

McFadden: I want to be Captain!
Writers: the only way you'll ever be Captain is if the entire crew is gone on some alien planet for some unbelievable important reason and all that's left is a few ensigns and JG lieutenants... hmm... we might be able to work with this... okay, you're captain.
McFadden: and I want to fly into a star!

Bad science, and a somewhat silly concept, yes. But I still enjoy watching it. Nowhere near being the worst TNG episode ever, in my book. That "honor" I would rather give to some other episodes already mentioned in this thread.
