Worst TNG Episode Ever?

I love masks.

I don't think there is a worst episode ever but there are some I don't like. New Ground, for example is a boring episode but it will usually not be put on worst of lists like Sub Rosa would be.

"Masks" is one of the so bad it's good episodes for me.

Can we even count "Shades Of Gray" as a proper episode? It was mostly clips from previous eps.

My own personal least liked episode is "The Outrageous Okona". There is absolutely nothing in this episode that I enjoyed.

(Dis)Honourable mentions for "Emergence" and "Up The Long Ladder". I thought "In Theory" was a ridiculous concept but the woman who merged with the floor was at least one highlight.

Season 7 has a whole bunch of episodes I find completely forgettable but I'd probably watch most of them if they were on.

Code of honour. Unpleasant and offensive.

I watched a lot of the series 7 episodes for the first time, or at least the first time since they were new, last year. They weren't all great, but I'm glad they tried to do something different in the last season, instead of just playing it safe.

Conspiracy. I don't like the creepy alien concept and Remmick's exploding head on top of that. Although I really enjoyed the parasite's reappearance in the novels.

"Manhunt"

Jean-Luc Picard hiding in the holodeck from a switched-onTrois mom?

The whole Dixon Hill thing doesn't ring true whatsoever for the character of Captain Picard. that was a creation of " 80's television writers", not "Science Fiction writers". They put Patrick Stewart in Stacey Keach's role of Mike Hammer.

"Manhunt" is not why I watch Star Trek. "Outrageous Okona" is only equally awful in its Data Does Stand up bits. How awful was that!?!? Guinan's " You're a Droid, and I'm a noid" is burned in my skull forever. Good lord, what terrible Writing. :ack:

The Outrageous Okona is my least favorite stand-alone TNG episode. That said, I find any episode where Q appears painful to watch.

I had gone through my TNG DVDs a couple years ago....there were a few per season that I have skipped which I didn't like or didn't care much for. Not sure which one of those I would consider the worst. That's a tricky one. I'll have go through that list of disliked episodes and I'll get back to this thread next time and mention the worst.

There are some truly abysmal TNG episodes, but Shades of Grey will always be worst for me. It may not be as bad as some of the others, but I cannot abide a clip show.

I believe most of the problem that people who dislike "Inner Light" find with it is this:

The story begins with a lone probe looking for one, single, individual to drill into their brain and make them live a fantasy life in their imaginations for half an hour and then gives them a nifty recorder for their troubles, when it's over. Yes, Picard's fantasy life as Kaman had a lot of Slice of Life moments that were very touching, like when he finally agreed to knock up his wife after five, desperately lonely years. Her reaction was cute and it does make me smile ... but there's just too much with this overrated episode to justify its overrated status in fan circles.

For me, personally, I can't single out any TNG episode as being so egregious that it's unwatchable, practically. But I'm not fond of any of the shows featuring Lwaxana Troi. They all tie for being super embarrassing to be made witness to. Put a white turtleneck on her, a black shirt and khaki pants and tone her personality down to dignified levels. That's how to approach a character of her supposed rank and "importance."

I am not a fan of The Inner Light simply because I am not a fan of episodes where a character lives someone else's life or the majority of the episode takes place in a dream. I would not classify them among the worst episodes however as this one is down to just my personal preference. It would be on par with someone else not liking Klingon episodes or Mirror Universe episodes. Doesn't mean they are bad....just not my thing.
