The Walking Dead Season 6 Discussion

I was wondering about Deanna myself. When we last see her she was in the upstairs bedroom in Jessie's house about to be rushed by a large group of walkers and they were intent on attacking her, so it's not like her being already bitten and suffering from illness was warding them off. So it'd make some sense that the walkers would have totally consumed her just given the numbers of them. And she didn't appear to have any major "wounds" on her so it's not as-if when she died while being eaten she instantly, or quickly, reanimated and the walkers left her alone. (Which it seems the show, largely, has ignored the reanimation times being wildly variable. the Wolf Walker reanimated quickly, for example.)

But then there's the problem on how Walker Deanna didn't get taken out by the fire/Alexandrians. Walker Deanna would have had to go downstairs from that upstairs bedroom and then go against the herd and walk outside Alexandria's walls into the woods, as opposed to do what all of the other walkers were doing and mill around Alexandria and eventually either get killed by an Alexandrian or be lulled into the lake of fire.

It was a nice moment, but when thought about a little bit it makes little sense.

That's why its easy to write it off as a bookend to Spencer's family. Just as the two months between "No Way Out" and this latest episode wiped away the need for any post Jessie family remorse / analysis.

Anyone think Enid is going to pull away from Carl after the way he handled the Deanna situation?

Weren't there a couple other teenagers in town besides Porchdick's son, Enid and Carl? Did they get killed off? I can't remember.

Yes--another teen named Mikey. He-along with Enid--were in Ron's room when Carl was introduced to everyone. There's no information on Mikey's fate so far.

About friggin' time! When she brought in the baby monitor and they were sitting there talking about their day, opening up to one another, Rick shared the mints, and well you just felt their connection and knew it was going to happen.

So now the Richonne shippers are happy. When are they going to show us Carryl shippers some love?

I think that ship has sort of sailed. Daryl and Carol strengthened their connection in two ways: Daryl bringing her back from her devastation (regarding the Samuels sisters), while she convinced him to grieve over Beth's death, but that seemed to draw them closer in a deep, nurturing sense. not romantic. The last time they were close to displaying anything romantic was in their exchanges in the 4th season premiere, and in-series, who knows how long ago that happened?

I don't have a problem with Rick and Michonne getting together, since it seems like something they'd probably do eventually given the fact they're two very attractive people and there aren't a lot of other options out there in this apocalypse. But unlike a lot of fans I can't say I've seen much real chemistry between them before.

TBH, I've seen more chemistry over the years between Michonne and Carl.

Still, it's pure Hollywood to see action stars hook up after a traumatic experience. You can't get more traumatic than the walker herd in Alexandria and everybody else is pretty much spoken for, so I'm only marginally surprised it happened. So what the heck? To quote another show I ditched a while back, "everybody deserves a happy ending," even super bad-asses in the Zombie Apocalypse.

I'm strongly considering giving that episode the title of "best comedy episode of the entire WD series." Daryl and Jesus are comedy gold. "Put him up a tree."

This was a pretty low key episode (I would never have guessed two months had gone by BTW) and I enjoyed the lighter stuff we saw. Rick and Michonne had to happen. Hot people need hot people.

Can't believe the skinny kid from the terrible Waterloo Road is now playing Jesus. Another Brit (you're welcome).

It was formed on the uneasy trust at the end of season 3; in the wake of the events of "Clear" and "This Sorrowful Life," Rick knew there was something more to her based on Carl's belief, admitting she talked to her late boyfriend, and the fact she understood why he had to consider the Governor's deal. Unlike the baggage surrounding Lori and Jessie, Michonne was first a newcomer / ally, but quickly turned into a valued friend with a growing level of comfort. That was apparent in the S4 opening, as she's very familiar with Rick (joking about his beard), and missing each others' company while she was on the hunt for the Governor. That was the foundation--it could not leap to romance overnight, and if you notice, after settling his emotions about Lori, Rick did not try to make a move on any of the other single females at the prison.

I believe his interest in Jessie was born out of being on the road / fatigue from the four, back-to-back conflicts (Governor 2.0 / claimed gang / Terminus / Grady hospital) leading to ASZ, and being unsure about Michonne--other than her being one of his closest friends / confidants.

After all they've experienced, and how strong the bond Michonne formed with Carl & Judith, I think both just realize they might have been right for each other all along, and have no reason to explore romance.

...unless the series backs out by having them become awkward with each other and E10 ends up being some one night stand.

I'm waiting for some youtuber to sitcom-itize the episode with a laugh track, cheers when characters appear, and cheesy awwwww's during the romantic bits.

How did Jesus get on top of the truck? He was tied up on the roadside. Did he manage to untie himself, catchup to the truck on foot and climb it while it was moving?? I don't get it, did I miss something?

They feel like good friends who decided to try being in a relationship. For a while I actually thought they were going to pull a twist and show that they had been a couple for a while. They were acting practically like a married couple at the beginning of the episode and the end before they held hands.

Yeah they were very "couple-ly" at the beginning. They almost felt like an actually family getting ready for their day. Rick is getting "ready for work", Carl is dicking around making everyone's morning a little more annoying doing his "Claimer Joe" tennis ball bit, Judith is on the floor being an adorable baby, and Michonne is padding around the place in her bathrobe. Sort of a sweet moment and, when they gave in to their feelings at the end that was just a great moment. Say what you will about how this relationship may have come from nowhere (the clues have been there all along) but that entire moment centered around the couch when Michonne comes in with the baby monitor the two of them already felt like a happily married couple.

Yeah, Daryl playfully mocking Denise was cute, but also in character for Daryl as he's done similar stuff before when people have came up to him for some-kind-of request. I liked the little regional-word-for-carbonated drinks conversation they had. I did give a chuckle when they eventually found some of the pop in the vending machine and quickly opened it and drank. Yep, nothing better than a warm pop that's been sitting in a vending machine for 2 years. Which they machine they took it from was one of those "snack" machines, since rick got the mints out of it. It didn't look like it was one of the (newer) ones with a refrigeration unit in it (nor where there any refrigeration coils on the back of it) so even before the apocalypse that pop was sitting, warm, in an unrefrigerated vending machine. Don't imagine it was a big seller.

I'm interested to see now where it goes with Jesus involved. I was mixed up last night when talking with my parents as I had thought Rick and Michonne had hooked-up in the comics. I must have mis-remembered and mixed-up some of my summary readings as it seems more that Rick and Andrea hooked-up in the comics, Michonne has more-or-less taken on Andrea's role in the TV series (since Andrea is dead.) So I was always expecting them to hook-up based on the comics but not for the reasons I thought.

I was talking with someone today and we were wondering how they were going to handle Carl's lost eye. I was wondering if at some point they'll just say "fuck it" and say they found him a glass-eye so Chandler doesn't have to go around for the rest of the series with either a bandage or eyepatch. They'd still have to do some make-up around the eye socket to represent scarring from the wound and maybe a contact to represent a glass-eye that doesn't match his real-eye. Otherwise it's going to be a bit odd seeing Carl with a covered eye for the rest of the series.

It'd have been interesting to see where everyone else is at this point as well. It's tough to always have the episode focus on every character but if two months (as indicated on TTD) have passed since the last episode seems like there's a lot of dangling plot-threads out there. Mostly in where Carol/Morgan now stand.

It's probably easier to just slap on an eyepatch. The scarring is pretty tight around the eye itself, a decent sized patch would cover it and not require much makeup.

...
Rick & Daryl were basically playing Bo & Luke on a TWD episode of Dukes of Hazzard . Paul/Jesus encounters beginning at the gas station to the field & lake felt very weak in the writing.

Agree, it is the best comedy TWD episode.

Because Rick & Daryl sat in the truck cab long enough painfully/obviously giving Paul/Jesus enough time to join them due to weak writing  before they finally drove off. :shifty:

This episode would have been believable if on the road trip it had been Eugene with another Alexandrian instead of Rick & Daryl IMHO.:biggrin:
