I kinda liked this one. I didn't see the ending coming....

I kinda felt bad for Norman in this one because you could see where he caught his arm. They confirmed on Talking Dead that he cut his arm open.

Did anyone else see the interview with Jesus' actor? He said there was an alternate ending shot where Jesus checks out Rick in the final scene...

So why did his friends call him Jesus? Was it because of the way he looked or because of his manner of living? He didn't kill the dynamic duo when he could have, but also people are sometimes given nicknames that reflect their opposite trait. I guess all will be revealed soon.

Or when people see him in action, they sigh and say "Oh. Jesus"

I didn't catch that Hardwick was disappointed in #Richonne. Maybe I was too busy laughing at the hilariously stereotypical reactions of Yvette Nicole Brown. What, does she just come to sit in the audience every week even if she's not a guest in the show? I'm wondering if some of the cat calls from the studio are just her...

And as much as I love him, Nathan Fillion is probably gunning for the title of most superfluous guest on that show, at least the most so in a while..

And poor Chris on TD. He was really walking on eggshells not to say what he really thought about the episode, trying to stay positive, but his disappointment broke the surface a couple times.

I did not detect any disappointment. That's hard to tell through his usual run-on sentence / motormouth routine.

They were working on expanding the fences, so they probably took some down in order to conserve and re-use materials and due to a lack of materials.

After two months, it would have been easy to get the reminder of the metal siding from that field (season 5) and repair the walls. Additionally, after being attacked by the Wolves and a horde of zombies, the survivors would be ore motivated to get the job done unlikely, as they now know that life is not as Deanna sold it to them.

Can't say I saw any "disappointment" in Chris's mannerisms during TTD. Granted his enthusiasm tempered a bit when the discussion whent from "Richonne" and the Daryl/Rick antics and talking about the other stories in the episode which were a little less exciting.

He's too busy flooring the pedal of his motormouth "nerd" routine. He needs to remember that people are not watching to see his (long past shelf date) "nerd" act, but to see series cast, crew and gain insight about the series through generally free form discussion.

Not only is it not fixed yet, the hole became larger during the jump. 6, 7, or 8 more panels were shown to be missing. Granted, the tower falling may have started a chain reaction, pulling more down than we originally saw when the tower fell on it. Still seems to be one of the first things you'd fix.

Oh yeah, that's right, Walker hoard are all dead now so not as high a priority, I suppose.

I think the part we see them working on is where they have torn down a section of the wall so that the materials could be used in one of Deanna's planned expansions, in this case, to encompass the new church which was previously on the outside of the wall (Father Gabriel gets a reward for no longer behaving like a tool). You can see where the wall used to be in the top picture of the Alexandria location, and you can see the new expansion wall in the background of the bottom shot behind where the disassembled fence is.

Yeah, the wall was being expanded by reusing materials. Daryl says they've not seen anyone for weeks, though he knows there's a threatening group out there, and they cleared out the mega-herd of walkers and likely can handle any other stray walkers who come by . So, expand the walls. They need new materials be also reuse current materials already in use.

Neat drone picture, which I assume were fan-captured. I'm willing to bet that the in-universe Alexandria is somewhat larger than this though, and they just use clever camera angles and such to make the most use of their real estate.

Actually, was it established that the pond was there in the previous season? Maybe that's where Enid and Ron had a scene early on? I can't remember it being so heavily featured until they turned it into a walker-cue.

Apart from occasionally taking from day to night to traverse for dramatic purposes, Alexandria's actually pretty small, and could be crossed in a couple of minutes at most.

And yeah, the pond's been there in maps that have been around since the series first arrived at Alexandria.

Now that just about everyone knows the name and threat of Negan, the writers' hands are forced to have characters not act clueless, and have them prepare for danger.

That said, now that Rick is back to being the Blood Butcher. "Ethan's" friends might run back to Negan--or try to snatch people from Alxandria to "trade" to Negan.

I see old Gregory was going to be the catalyst for bad things happening...aside from being a pushy pervert. I will not be sad to see him go. I'm sure his weak "leader" ego will want some revenge for Maggie outplaying him so effectively.

The BIG TELEGRAPH:

1. Daryl thinking they can eliminate Negan and Rick saying they've not had a problem with confrontation.
2. Maggie's premonition.
3. Abraham and Glenn talking about hope and building things--the ultrasound.

....all just screams set up. The producers need to embrace subtlety.

Watching the scene at the end where they're all looking at the ultrasound photo while smiling had me wondering if someone was going to get killed right there & then. Characters normally can't have those moments on this show without something dreadful happening almost immediately.

I think my favorite moment tonight was a blood covered Rick looking at the Hilltop people and saying "What?"
Perfect delivery IMO.

Rick's "What?" was perfect. The encounter seemed very much like in the comics. Yeah, the Foreboding Passing of the Ultrasound wasn't very subtle. Yeeeeahhhh. I think comic-spoilers are all but certain.

Liking "Jesus" a bit more, the Hilltop leader was sort of an ass.

Negan's threat certainly seems stronger now, and loved the bomb-shell Jesus dropped when the told Carl about "Richonne."

But, yeah, things are going to get unpretty very quickly. Decent episode, although....

What the fuck was going on with Abraham? That seemed a bit odd and though Abraham's semi death-wish state was over. Did he and Sasha not hook-up? What was with the necklace? The stuff with Abraham seemed a bit out of place.

Got to say, Rick's group knows how to introduce themselves.

One thing that came to me when I was thinking about tonight's episode was that last week, on Talking Dead, Danai Gurira said it had been two months since the events of the mid-season premiere. Yet on tonight's episode Abraham says it's been a month.
I'm going to go with the time given in episode rather than a cast member on another show as the true time line.

I was a little disappointed with the ultrasound. When Maggie said she needed one more thing I thought we would see her walking out with that painting.

Whatever happens, I was glad to see Maggie get her hero moment in this episode. Gregory probably felt two inches tall (or "big", given his creepiness) after she hit him with those big pretty eyes and used his own tactic against him. Good on her.

Rick's bloody-faced "What?" was the line of the show.

The fight was great. It was a nice reminder that our survivors can also beat the snot out of living people who can fight back. I was just upset they did it in time to save Gregory.

I got nothing on Abraham, except to say the death wish was never his only mental problem. He seemed a little unwound way back when he thought he had to get Eugene to DC.

I ain't jumping on the Jesus train too soon. He's too glib and he's obviously some kind of escape artist. He's working people way too effectively to not be a potential threat.

I know things with the Saviors are apparently supposed to go very bad, but just once it'd be nice if the writers allowed Rick and Co to be just as ruthless and efficient in handling other groups as they really should be by this point.

It's getting a bit frustrating to see them operate as this elite, badass killing squad for most of the season, only for things to get bungled up because of some contrivance or poor decision once they actually encounter that bigger threat.
