Fallout 4

My next story mission is crossing the Glowing Sea. I guess I should wear Power Armor for that to avoid the radiation aye? The walk through is vague.

I would not attempt it without Power Armor, that's for sure. You could get by with Rad-X and RadAway but if you have the fusion cores to spare, you might as well go with the armor. I was able to do the big quest in that area without using up an entire core, if I recall correctly.

Also bring plenty of ammo, healing items, etc. There is very little to scavenge from this area so you need to be well-equipped.

It's also very dangerous but I think you're high enough level you wouldn't have to worry too much, just don't be careless.

I believe I'm level 21 now and I have a bajillion power cores. I never use Power Armor. I've been doing side quests a lot more than story quests.

Alternatively, a stealth character can easily get by just wearing a hazmat suit. The only time I touched power armor my last playthrough was just to farm Danse approval by repeatedly entering/exiting the armor aboard the Prydwen.

I'm rolling a stealth character, but I still plan on using power armor for when I go into the Glowing Sea. Already have a full set of T-51, modded with lead lining and a legendary torso piece I just picked up in polymer labs. Works by refreshing AP faster based on rad exposure. Should come in handy. ;)

That reminds me, after I cleared out the super mutants in that fort by the airport, my companion Paladin Danse disappeared! I didn't dismiss him. I went back to Sanctuary and he wasn't there. Guess I'll need to walk all around the damn helicarrier to find him...?

Yep, I found him wandering around the helicarrier. Weird. I crossed the Glowing Sea which was spooky and epic. I had to fight TWO Deathclaws at once, then run from a third at the cave entrance of the guy! Yeesh!

This game is so damn addictive. I'm obsessed with leveling up so I can get new perks.

Only two deathclaws? Man you are lucky. I stumbled upon 2 deathclaws fighting against 2 radscorpions and a legendary radscorpion. I figured the deathclaws would win, so I shot them thinking I'll weaken all 5. Except a couple of seconds later, the deathclaws died. I ended up with 3 angry radscorpions chasing me down.

^ The random shit that can happen in Bethesda RPGs is a huge draw for me.

The most memorable encounters to me often are three-way fights like the one you described. I remember one between a bunch of Gunners with two Assaultrons on their side versus one Deathclaw versus me, probably my favorite clockwork-open-world moment in Fallout 4 so far.

Oh yeah, in the middle of the conversation with the woman who tells me where the scientist is... a Legendary Radscorpion attacked the town and she ran away before we could finish talking! I had to help the villagers kill it and go find her again.

That's exactly why I despise the real time conversation system in Skyrim and Fallout 4. All too often someone you're talking to starts wandering off in the middle of the conversation, or some other stupid shit happens that disrupts it. I much prefer the zoomed in/paused conversations in Oblivion and Fallout 3 / New Vegas.

I think I leveled up too much

I'm level 21 and I just did the "Hunter Hunted" mission and it was an absolute breeze, including the boss.

I entered the Institute and met Father. That was a great plot twist, I completely did not see that coming! Now I'm really conflicted about which Faction to side with. I was totally with the Brotherhood up to this point but now I kinda want to go with the Institute.

Reading through this it sounds like Bethesda raided the best mods of Skyrim, New Vegas, and FO3 and put them into the vanilla game. Dynamic weather, settlement creation, crafting, weapons mods, and even the dialogue wheel are featured in mods for Skyrim, FNV, and FO3 on the Nexus.

For those of you who have this on PC, what are its true requirements (as opposed to what is published which is usually a bit higher than what you really need)? I can run Skyrim, FNV, FO3 and the Witcher 3 on my PC without issue but is that enough for this game? I don't have to have it on max settings but I don't want to run into the same problem I had with Wolfenstein: The Old Blood and The New Order which was that they lagged so badly during animated cut scenes that they were unplayable (actual gameplay was fine if you had twenty minutes to watch the cut scene sputter out).

FO4's requirements are lower than The WItcher 3, except for RAM (requires 8GB).

What video card do you have, and how much RAM? The Wolfenstein issues sound like poor optimization or a video card driver issue, as I don't think they had particularly steep requirements (especially not if you can run The Witcher 3, which was pretty high-spec).

My video card right now is onboard (yeah I know) HD 4400. I have 6 gigs of total memory ddr3. I can run Witcher 3 on high with no CTDs (only CTDs I've ever had out of that game is when I'm having mod conflicts). Apparently the issue with Wolfenstein has plagued a lot of users even ones with great rigs so I'm not really sure what's up with that. I've tried a few fixes but didn't want to put too much time into it because I wanted to preserve the chance of a refund and those scenes were costing serious time on steam.
