Star Trek: Axanar

I'm scratching my head a bit here, but if answering questions that are posed is considered spamming here then I'll gladly bow out.

I honestly think GSchnitzer was just sincerely explaining the "rule." Which I have to admit kind of puzzled me when I first came here too :), but it's not too hard to get used to nor applied in any very draconian fashion.

And I have no idea what's up with sojourner impersonating the Black Knight all of a sudden... :p. I for one am happy to have you here and have found it educational, I hope you do continue.

gschnitzer's post has a misprint in it. that last sentence should be "please use the multi-quote function".

You just need to use the multiquote function instead of creating seperate posts for each response. No need to run away.

Yes, my post contained a misprint of sorts. It properly reproduces our rule from the FAQ file--which itself contains a bit of a typo. It should be instructing people to use the mult-quote function--allowing you to quote from and respond to several different quotes and previous posts in one response, not simply the quote function. The point of the rule is to deter people from making post after post in the same thread with no other intervening posts from other users. Our "post after post" rule is "anything more than two posts in a row constitutes spamming." The "don't post more than twice in a row in a given thread" part of the rule is pretty clear--"multi-quote" omissions and typos in the FAQ file notwithstanding.

So, respond to people's questions in one long multi-response post or take two posts if you need. More than that and please refrain from posting a third time in a row in the thread; wait for someone else to weigh in to prevent a string of responses from one individual.

No need to exit the discussion at all. Just remember the old WWII-era admonition of putting three on a match.

FAQ file (typo and all) is here:

It's amazing what people read into a simple statement like "run away".

It's amazing that some people don't recognize a poor choice of words.

Please explain how it was a poor choice of words?

It accurately described his actions in that he was chased away by what he perceived to be an admonition not to reply to posts.

There is no malice in the phrase beyond what you yourself see in it.

Axanar vs Continues... In court!

Hmmm...this has taken a rather unpleasant turn... :o

So, now instead of using the money they got in their fundraisers on actually making a movie, they'll be pissing it away on this.

Grand...

In all fairness, these are pretty serious accusations. Hopefully there is some evidence to support them?

Axanar vs Continues... In court!

Well, sorry to say, but given the effective legal status of a non-licensed production to begin with; I hope the action doesn't cause CBS to file a C&D on both Axanar AND ST:Continues.

I am a backer of Axanar and am looking forward to a Blu-ray, but sorry, if you go to court with an effective case of:

"Hey, this person, who is running this technically illegal Star Trek fan production is badmouthing me and my technically illegal Star trek fan production..."

The IP rights holder (CBS) may decide, okay this is a kind of publicity the Star Trek IP doesn't need so we'll reign everything in.

I think both sides need to quit worrying about the other guys and just concentrate of their respective projects and leave this clash of ego drama at the door. (And I'm in no way taking sides because AS a fan, I just want to see and evaluate/enjoy the finished product for myself once it's made available. i could care less who said what about whom, when in end, nothing good comes out of it for anyone, whether it be those involved with the productions or the fans who want to just see the finished results.

the entire 'fan film' group itself is on shaky legal ground to begin with so sorry, but I don't see how filing a court case that will effectively throw these fan projects under a big and (what I'm sure will be spun by any mainstream media that picks it up) NEGATIVE spotlight.

If anything might tip the legal arm of CBS to bring the C&D hammer down on Star Trek fan productions, this could be it.

I'm not calling anyone a liar, but I've never seen or heard Vic Mignogna say anything of the kind. Where has this been taking place, I wonder? At conventions?

They better not. That's not what people invested in. If that's what ends up happening, i'd be asking for cash back real quick.

Mignogna must have sour grapes

Curious, why would he have sour grapes? Continues seems to be more than successful and they're making great progress with each and every episode and fundraiser they have.

Well, certainly someone has been trolling Axanar with public accusations that basically amount to fraud and embezzlement. I would be super-massively disappointed to find that was Mignogna, though, Axanar and ST:C are the last two productions I want to see fighting.

Where? I haven't seen anything of the kind in my own internet travels. I'm not disputing your claim, I just don't know where to find these "public accusations" to read them?

I agree completely. There is no reason all of the productions can't get along together.
