^Are they just supposed to tear it all down and throw it out when they're done?
No. But money should be paid by the new production to Axanar. Maybe it will reduce the need for crowd funding in the future if they do a follow up.

^ I dunno. Somehow I doubt that declaring that all moneys from the studio will go to funding an indeterminate string of Axanar-related projects would do very much to allay the suspicions of the suspicion-inclined. In fact that advice sounds a bit... silly.
^That is true, but the two are not exclusive ends. NV/P2 is made by Cawley's company, but Cawley doesn't shut down between NV/P2 projects.
Kickstarter's rates went up, if I recall correctly.

I really don't want to go any deeper into the finances of a project that I'm not privy to behind-the-scenes details on. That is for the Axanar folks to do or not do.
Just floating my thoughts based on discussions here.
So now on Indie gogo? Did Kickstarter kick them out?
So far, Alec Peters has run three crowdfunding campaigns entirely dedicated to Axanar:
(1) A Kickstarter campaign for "Prelude to Axanar," which raised $101,171.
(2) A Kickstater campaign for "Axanar," which raised $638,471.
(3) A (currently running) Indiegogo campaign, which is asking for $1.3 million and has to date raised $302,673.
In addition, Peters ran a Kickstarter campaign to help publish Marc Cushman's third These Are The Voyages book, in which he took an undisclosed (as far as I know) percentage for Axanar.
On top of that, they run a donors only web store, which sells model kits and other trinkets (not sure how CBS let's them get away with the unlicensed model kits, to be honest, but I'm not an entertainment lawyer). It's my understanding that they also take direct donations. I don't believe the complete revenue from these sources has ever been disclosed, except for about $20,000 of extra donations included in the income/expenditure statement for "Preude to Axanar," which ultimately cost $123,285. (To be clear, I don't mean to imply that they won't ever disclose this income, just that they have not to date.)
I know BigJake will come running to claim sour grapes, but...
The thing that seems to be bothering me is that they plan on using the money collected to build a studio that will also be used for "for profit" projects. Seems to me that there is an overlap that shouldn't be happening.
BTW, Terry, since you're newish here you probably don't know this, but the board discourages multiple sequential posts, so when replying to several messages it's best to click thebutton on each message you want to reply to, and then hit the
at the bottom of the page, which lets you reply to multiple messages in a single post.![]()
I'll keep that in mind!

gschnitzer's post has a misprint in it. that last sentence should be "please use the multi-quote function".
You just need to use the multiquote function instead of creating seperate posts for each response. No need to run away.

I'm scratching my head a bit here, but if answering questions that are posed is considered spamming here then I'll gladly bow out. I'm not here to cause or participate in drama and I'm certainly not here to participate in whatever this is (meaning the reason that I'm scratching my head.) So, I will move along then. Be well, all!
