Star Trek: Axanar

Is Deep Space Nine horizontally aligned, or are we all just being forcefed Ira Steven Behr's ethnocentric space perspective whenever it's on screen? And are people who refer to it as Terok Nor funny or just aloof?

Does the crew of Voyager recognize Janeway's constant shifts in hairstyle between 2371 and 2373 as a symbol of mankind's desperate need to obsess over trivial matters in the face of overwhelming odds? Or am I just obsessing over trivial matters in the face of overwhelming odds?

Does Travis Mayweather purchase access to his own vocal chords on a need-to-speak basis? Or is he just... wait, who was I talking about again?

How much protein can a protein resequencer resequence if a resequenced protein is pro-teen re: sequence?

Was Picard always bald, or did William Shatner just demand his hair?

...on-topic: I rewatched this a few hours ago. Yep, I'm still excited as all heck for Axanar. Something that really stood out to me this time is the attention to detail when Hatch's character (why am I this bad with names? I mean really?) thrust his cane down in anguish.

Is the JJPrise a Constitution class or Starship class?

Are Kirk's eyes blue or brown?

Is cake better than pie?

Starship. At least according to the ship's plaque in the film. Of course, I think it also said it was from the San Francisco Yards, not Iowa..

Either. Kirk's eyes had a rare genetic trait that would change his eye color depending on whether or not he was born in an artificial gravity environment or Earth. Also made him allergic to Retinox 5...

Cake is always better, unless it's Klingon Rokeg Blood Pie. Rokeg is actually a vegetable, and unknown to Klingons, is very similar in taste to Earth prunes....

Or something like that...

I had no idea of the hornet's nest I was kicking when I referenced that line.

It's not you. Dissenting opinions that don't agree with the gang mentality aren't just unpopular in this forum, they are almost forbidden to have, apparently.

That's utter bullshit and you know it. The "queen bitch whore" line was dissected from every fucking angle for pages on end. Here's a shocking revelation: more often than not, people disagree on things!

It worked for some, not for others. Sorry if having people disagree with you offends you.

This is my take. It actually does serve a purpose in the story, by telling us something about both Klingon character and human character; a mature reaction to someone trying to offend you with insults is to laugh it off.

Besides it probably means she pissed the Klingons off enough for then to separate her from the rest of what they probably see as "the filthy Earther scum".

Into Darkness had people up in arms because they showed a woman in her undies for a second and a half.

While, scantily clad Orion slave girl Vina doing an erotic dance for almost 2 minutes is the height of cerebral entertainment

I remember one person who insulted anyone who wasn't offended, then promised not to come back. He, like some others proof texted the line to support their agenda, regardless of context.
In context, the Klingons clearly felt Terran women were inferior. They found out differently. Degrading insults are the refuge of the loser. But a few decide to continue to insult and ridicule.

If there's any problem, it's that "queen bitch whore" is dialogue that's trying too hard. A one-word epithet would be more conversational.

But then I'm probably biased by doing catch-up binging on GoT, where everyone's a "c--t."

Good lord.

ALL I DID WAS SAY I DIDN'T LIKE THE GODDAMN LINE. Yet all of you came out of the woodwork to say how much you liked it, how much it didn't bother you or how inoffensive it really was.

And then all I did was reveal that no, you have not swayed me on this matter.

You guys make it sound like I burned your babies in an effigy of disdain. Calm the fuck down.

Might want to reread what you posted...

Which is grossly misleading. No one ganged up on you and no any opinion isn't forbidden.

How is it misleading? I said I didn't like the line, and despite also complimenting the production and visual effects, nearly everyone has come in here since then to comment on how much they loved the line. No one else (except maybe Jeff OConnor) has commented on anything else regarding Axanar since that post.

You people only want to hear what agrees with your limited worldview. It's sad.

It's also still a shitty line of dialogue.

Remember that after Captain Garth, Captain Alexander has destroyed the most Klingon warships during this war. And she (so far) doesn't have an Ares-class ship. So she's earned the place of having the Klingons single her out for specific name calling.

As always, I'm watching this thread carefully. I'd be appreciative if folks could dial it back s notch, develop thicker skin, and not take umbrage so quickly.

We'll see if this calms things down a bit.
