With Convergence now over and The New 52 label being dropped I thought it might be a good idea to start a new thread.

I haven't read any of this week's titles yet but I am looking forward to reading the start of the Darkseid War in Justice League and I'm curious to see what they are doing with Superman. A future title I am looking forward to is Cyborg. I'm also going to give Batman Beyond a shot since it seems to pick right up where Future's End left off.

What titles are you all looking forward to?

Hey, back at the end of Flashpoint, Barry had to unite the timelines to protect against some unnamed foreign threat. Did that ever come up again? Was it just Darkseid stuff?

I'm looking forward to "Batman Beyond" but especially "Prez". "Prez" is my most anticipated new book out of the mini-relaunch.

Batman Beyond was alright. not great, not awful. Bizarro i thought was a lot of fun. and i liked that Mister Miracle was heavily featured in todays Justice League.

Justice League #41 was a very promising beginning.

I have to say I'm intrigued to see what they're doing with Superman across all his titled--I enjoyed "Action Comics" #41 last night. I might also check out "Justice League" too.

Very. I just finished it and loved it. The art is spectacular too.

The one thing I really didn't care for was the half page ads. Ugh.

Action Comics I thought was great - it feels like DC is going back to the 1960s and 1970s where writers weren't required to fit their stories into some tight continuity but just tell the story they want to tell within their own series.

I enjoyed Action comics a lot too. I'm looking forward to getting the full story when I read Superman #41 and #42.

That wasn't Barry. That was Pandora. And I believe it was dropped down the same blackhole as the Wildstorm Event planned by Harras and Lee.

They really should just put Greg Pak in charge of the Superman books. He's been consistently the best writer of the New52 Superman since he came aboard. I had zero interest in the new direction for Superman until I read the latest issue of Action Comics.

Greg Pak HAS been excellent. The new 52 started off well with Morrison's short run but Superman left a little to be desired. I actually liked the first few issues of Superman even though it was criticized. I thought they were really going someplace new and different. But it never really happened until Pak came on board.

I won't be reading these comics until two months from now but I am pleased to see I have something to look forward to. Maybe comics should be pushed back to ten issues a year with a regular two month fill-in?

No because the scheduling was never the problem. The friction and conflict between management, the editorial and writers was responsible for the mess on Superman. We have had four creative teams (Perez->Giffen/Jurgens->Lobdell->Johns) and now are on our fifth or sixth writer. If editorial could give the writers more room to do their jobs, I think we might actually get some decent stories instead crossovers everywhere and writers ragequit at the slightest opportunity.

For New 52 Superman, the only runs I liked were Morrison and Johns. Aside from that I pretty much feel like they butchered the character trying to make him "modern" and "hip".

That opinion right now is very much in the minority and reflects only the fact only Johns and Morrison were able to do what they wanted. Everyone else got saddled with editorial edicts and demands.

What do you guys think of the half-page ads DC is running now?

I don't see them since I read everything via Comixology, but are they reducing story space or just reshuffling things--i.e. one story page and one ad page become 2 mixed pages?

I think they just took two pages and reshuffled things into mixed pages. Reportedly the writers and artists were instructed to fashion their story so that the two halves could later be recombined into one page in the collected trade.

Also, it's been reported by The Beat that this is so far just a one off thing for all the June books and will only be used for those Twix ads.

Agreed on both points. And I think this storytelling method might come with its own advantages.

I read Green Lantern #41 over the weekend and really enjoyed it. I hope the stick with solo tales of Hal for a while.
