Ward hasn't been seen since the mid season finale. He also missed a couple of episodes when he was still in the cage.
I endorse this new nickname (for whatever that's worth)! The Real Slimshield
One, it could be Hawkeye's team. Setting up this fallback unit could explain his absence in CA:TWS and he believes Coulson is dead so sending in operatives to catch who he believes to be an impostor makes sense.
Except Hawkeye's team is... The Avengers. And Cap and Widow know that Fury's alive.
One: Olmos was announced back in January, before the Spidey deal with Sony was made. At the time they were writing his episodes, I doubt they knew they'd have access to Spider-Man characters. Two: We already know his character's name is Robert Gonzales. Two, it could just be EJO's team but with Spiderman appearing in CA:CW, what's the chances of EJO being Norman Osborn? He did run Shield for a bit.
I definitely don't want to see Mac and Mockingbird survive this, at least not as anything but prisoners.
Why should they be prisoners? Why does Coulson have any more moral or legitimate authority than they do? This group doesn't appear to be Hydra, they have the same goals as Coulson does, they just disagree over leadership and methods.
It still seems a little early to be plotting Bobbi and Mack's deaths IMO. We still don't know who or what exactly "the real S.H.I.E.L.D." is. For all we know they could have just as much of a claim to the S.H.I.E.L.D. name as Coulson's group. I think we should at least hear what Director(?) Gonzales has to say before we make a final judgement.
Admiral Cain choosing to ignore the legitimacy of Rosilin's presidency, and Adama killing so many people to up set that legal way of thinking.
...This whole storyline is BS and pointless.
...I hope I'm wrong, I love AoS. But this storyline is just stupid.
The "SHIELD vs. SHIELD" story will only be interesting if the other group has some kind of legitimacy. Coulson has legitimacy because he is Fury's hand-picked, raised-from-the-dead successor.
kirk55555, where are you getting the idea that Gonzales wants to destroy Coulson, or that Mac and Bobbi want to take him down "with extreme prejudice"? Putting someone other than Coulson in charge of SHIELD doesn't mean putting two bullets in the back of his head.
Regardless, while I really enjoy AoS I think this idiotic SHIELD vs Fake SHIELD story is the worst thing since the first part of Season 1, and I don't think the show will ever be able to work with Mac and Mockingbird after the story arc (assuming that they, unfortunately, survive the storyline).
