I find her hard to like. She's too stoic. At least Spock had a sense of humour. Sure, it was hidden, but it was still there. T'Pol is just cold as ice. Pure Vulcan. And whenever she does display any hints of emotion, its generally anger or annoyance.

Well, she did display charming awkwardness in Terra Prime when she said to her baby, "Hello. I'm your mother. You're going to need a name. We should discuss that with your father."
She also became emotional when her mother died.
When she raises one of Trip's uniforms to her face in TATV, it's a poignant moment.
Her delivery when she tells Archer off during the treadmill scene in ANIS, was dead on.
And she certainly did a lot of emoting under the infliuence of trellium.

Captain Zog. Wait until Harbinger and Azati Prime. She gets quite emotional in those two and in later Episodes.
I liked T-POl Just wish that she would have been in a different uniform and not that damned Catsuit. It was too hard to take her seriously in that getup.

I did not expect to like her when I first saw Enterprise because I thought she had been picked for looks alone. It also did not help that when you play a Vulcan science officer you have to live up to Spoc's legacy. Considering the material she was given I thought she did very well. Much better than Tim Russ. In the end she had a better grasp of the part and what was needed than BnB. I think her being a scifi fan helped.

One of the reasons that Jolene took charge of T'Pol's appearance in season 3 was that she wanted to look like the traditional Vulcans. I think she did well with T'Pol, especially in her efforts to give the character dignity in spite of the sexploitation at the hands of Bermaga.
I think T'Pol was OK. I also think Bermaga should have either let her behave like an adult in her relationship with Trip or give her a legitimate relationship with a Vulcan mate. The nonsense we put up with still gripes me to this day.
Oh there were some flaws but at the end of the day I liked her. Sometimes her stoicism came across more as bitchiness, but then that might just be part of the territory with Vulcan women.
Now, I did find it hard to believe the a Vulcan woman would get so many lip injections that their lips would look ridiculous, but there you have it.

Views on T'pol were great from every angle, especially from behind, though she had a pretty face too.
But better than Tim Russ? Hell no! Tuvok was a quintessential Vulcan, and Russ' performance was IMO flawless.
Okay, once again I find myself as the rare defender of ENT. As with much of the characters in ENT, T'Pol's character and Blalock's portrayal evolved with time. The T'Pol we see in S1 is vastly different than the one we see in later seasons. I thought that they gave her interesting conflicts, and her relationships with Archer and Trip really supported all of S3. Clearly, they were affected by the impact Seven had on VOY and capitalized on that, but it is not a reason to write off the character.
I agree with many of the points made in this thread pointedly that she started out as a seven clone but evolved through the series into a character with some semblance of a personality.
My favorite T'Pol episode was suprisingly 'These are the Voyages'. I like nothing else about that episode but her. She is so different, expresive and emotional. Like an actual person.

"It looks like someone beat the sh*t out of her...and then starved her for three weeks. Poor girl."
I read it on firsttvdrama.com and I have no idea who said it originaly but it does seem to fit! :P

T-Pol Could have been a great character if the writers had given her some continuity and not jerked her around so much.
Bounty was so embarassing no wonder Blalock hated it. The turning her into a Drug addict for no good reason Had no justification especially since it was more or less dropped after that episode..
Her romance with Trip should have been able to grow and flourish or it should not have been started at all.
Blalock was never able to get a handle on her character because the writers changed it so often and so much.
I often have wondered why blalock just didn't play it for the T&A and collect her paycheck..

Wow, that's a first... I don't think I've ever seen a Star trek character being so out of character like T'pol in TATV. It was simply not her (and as for her hair and makeup... geeez).Alyssa said:

She tries too hard and I don't find her stoic Vulcan shtick to be natural at all. I believe she is making it very clear that she is a Vulcan free from emotional responses precisely because she is so weak in this area. I see T'Pol as a deeply flawed Vulcan who puts a lot of energy into covering up these flaws.
There is a reason why she is the only Vulcan to serve on a human ship for more than 10 days and it's not because she's super-Vulcan lady. It's because she doesn't have to guard herself with such vigilance and because her failings are not even noticed by her shipmates.
As a flawed Vulcan she forms bonds with Archer and Trip early on based on her need to trust someone ( Breaking the Ice, The Seventh), a need that seems decidedly unstoic. She is attracted to the V'tosh ka'tur/Vulcans without Logic and goes on to continue her experiments with her emotions through drug usage. She is very adept at rephrasing her opinions to include an emotional element, enabling her to get through to Archer after he dismisses her logical points.
Unlike TOS where Spock's forays into emotion are always embraced as a good thing "of all the souls I have encountered in my travels, his was the most... human" T'Pol's emotional choices weaken her. She loses control, becomes rash, hard to depend on. She frequently agonizes over her decisions and doubts her motivation. At her worst she would have probably been committed to some Vulcan Logic Rehab facility had she been on her homeworld, which as we know from The Seventh has already happened when she was younger. She was unable to control her feelings then and though she puts that down to youth these flaws are clearly still with her.
All these things make her a great character.

i know blalock's views on t'pol and the show in general were less than satisfactory.

Tim Russ wanted to be Jordi and ended up Tuvok -which is fine by me, but Jolene fits the outfit better........
