Your ultimate dream Trek story

I was just wondering what the readers and writers here would consider you absoulte dream Trek story?

For me, I think Destiny is pretty damn close. I've always wanted to see a big epic story that brought characters from all of the series together. This was actually part of why I tended to get frustrated with most of the previous crossovers, we never got to see the characters from multiple series working together. Even when they were dealing with the same threat, they almost always ended up going off to do their own thing.

Re: You're ultimate dream Trek story

Just a reminder - we can't actually post story ideas on this board.

Re: You're ultimate dream Trek story

Oh, yeah. I should have remembered to specifiy that we should keep it more general, along the lines of "I would like to see these characters meet" or "I would love to see more of this planet". Mods, if this is going to be a problem feel free to close the thread.

Re: You're ultimate dream Trek story

For the record, I'm not ultimate dream trek story, and I doubt anyone else here is, either.

But seriously, folks...

I don't think I have an ultimate dream trek story. I just want lots of consistently good stories. More Saavik (and more like the ST II Saavik) would be nice, though.

Re: You're ultimate dream Trek story

The bigger, the better. Long epic tales of really anything, in the vein of DRG3, Mission: Gamma, Destiny, Vanguard, etc.

Re: You're ultimate dream Trek story

Well, why can't this be a fans-only thread with proper warning to writers/editors?

Now, to consider the original question...

I couldn't say I want a certain story type. I've enjoyed so many types of books over the years, and I like variety.

As for scenarios:

An epic Mr Arex story set during TAS.

A Lost Era story about the Trek version of the Man-Kzin Wars (probably an Enterprise book)

A story about Captain Spock and the USS Surak from the old DC comics, complete with "Mister" Brinks, Dr. Chu-Sa and the rest.

Something tells me it'll take far more/harder dreaming to make the second two happen :)

Mine would be Geordi gets married and gets a command of his own (though not necessarily of a starship, per se).

Well, the Invasion! miniseries was really close. But I hoped for an epic crossover, which didn't happen there.

An epic Mr Arex story set during TAS.

Truth. I have an unpublished fanfic which ended on a cliffhanger, pitching Arex, M'Ress and Therin into the 24th century (so I could use my Andorian character with the then-fledgling TNG characters). When PAD came up with "Cold Wars" I got real chills up my spine. That guy's a mind reader!

Something along the lines of Ex Machina would be cool, making use of a wider crew including more aliens. A plot that made good use of my beloved Janice in more than a cameo would be awesome too. The character was developed enough in her 8 episodes to hold a major role in a story.

I did start to write one years ago, where one element of the plot was going to be her dealing with the guilt of killing two crew on the transporter pad combined with her guilt at the death of her daughter prior to her returning to active duty. I didn't get past the opening scene where she has a dream about her daughter materialising in the pad and ending up as goo. Maybe I'll write it when I retire.

I've always been fascinated with the ep "The Immunity Syndrome." If this is just one cell, where might the rest be? And what do they become if they get together? A giant space-panda? A cool thought--Galactic T-cell, eliminated by our heroes. Now the galaxy will get cancer! Thanks, Captain!

Galaxy cancer=Borg?

If so, they dealt with it.

Although if they destroyed the galaxy's immune system doesn't that mean that Kirk gave the galaxy HIV?

Oh Great! Well, It should be about a billion years before it's a problem.

Oh, and the Andromeda galaxy is on a collision course with the Milky Way. The Good Captain would be responsible for spreading HIV galacticaly! And he never even seduced anything! :guffaw:

It would involve Spock waking up with a start, and Kirk walking out of the shower with a towel around his neck...

And everything since TUC would be erased...

Well it worked for Dallas...

Oh not that kind of 'dream' story...

A story where a Human learn that Klingon/Vulcan/whatever values were superior to their own.

A story where an alien/robot/hologram wasn't arsed to have a quest to become more human or even better understand humans.
