Your ultimate dream Trek story

Hmm, I'd like to see a meeting between Lt. T'Ryssa Chen of the Enterprise and Tuvok or Spock or both. So many possibilities for comedy.

I always wanted to see the details of the Earth/Romulan War, then I got my wish.

Mine would be a Section 31 series. (not mini-series)

Well, why can't this be a fans-only thread with proper warning to writers/editors?

Because there are other forums for that: Each show's forum, General Trek Discussion, Fan Fic, to name a few.

Oh yeah, I also occasionally fantasize about Pocket releasing a novelization of Richard Bach's Star Trek: Phase II treatment Practice in Waking written by.... Richard Bach.

SLR

This isn't an ultimate dream story, but the "Bring Back Hawk" thread (such as it was!) got me to thinking. What has happened to all the Starfleet personnel who once were assimilated and now are liberated?

Actually, a "Bring Back Hawk" story (as a B-plot) could be interesting in an angsty sort of way.

I want the editors to hold back their hands and let DRG3 write a novel of such girth and mass that it develops its own gravity field.

I believe Michael A. Martin already did that with Beneath the Raptor's Wing. You walk anywhere near that thing and your path is bent in a curve around it. If I start spinning things around it, I might even be able to achieve time travel.

Yeah I think I'm gonna have to go with "Star Trek: The God Thing" I've been long curious about this story and would love to see it final come out! Is there a reason why it hasn't yet? I think Christopher would do a terrific job if he was given the assignment given his "Ex Machina" was based in the Motion Picture era.

It is for this reason that I'm bummed that the Crucible hardcover omnibus got cancelled. Dropping that thing on the floor would've shown up on seismographs hundreds of miles away.

^ Not really saying much. DRGIII's acknowledgments sections already do that kind of damage.

Wait, I'm thinking of Keith's.

No, wait again.....

Ah, screw it.

Aside from "Star Trek The God Thing" I would love to see a Star Trek Political series written by KRAD ala "Star Trek Articles of the Federation" I've stated this a couple of times and Articles is among my all time favorite books and gobbled it up as soon as it came out. The politics of the Federation and Earth in general have always been a fascination to me as a politics buff so I would follow and buy such a series.

This is kind of off-topic, but I wonder if the title of that book helped lead to its low sales. I saw it in the lists of titles several times, and thought it was actually someone writing up the possible articles of the Federation and writing a "non-fiction" Trek book about government. I thought that'd be incredibly lame. It was only after joining the board here and reading about what it was actually about that I bought it.

Some ideas:

1) Lost Era:
Tzenkethi - the war.
Talarian - the war.
Sheliak - the time we saw them before "Ensigns of Command".
Gorn - everything between "Arena" and Typhon.

2) Something about civilian life across the galaxy that makes it as interesting as the military/political/SF stories we get normally without the excuses about how difficult that is.

3) Metrons, Organians, Preservers, etc... What about the aliens that've been around for a million years? The universe is littered with aliens at different stages of their development. What about those far ahead? How about just a little far ahead? Sure the Organians don't want to be bothered but what about some people a mere 50,000 years ahead of us? The Vorlons of the Trek universe.

I remembered one!

My next dream novel would be a B-4 focused sequel to "Immortal Coil". (I once wrote to Jeff Lang letting him know what I'd love to see, but he said he wasn't planning on doing more ST since Marco had gone.)

I'd love a Founders origin story.

Also I used to want a Founders/Borg story, though some of my enthusiasm for this has waned with Destiny, which was amazing but also has sort of dampened my appetite for any more Borg stories, even back-stories (or Borg: the Lost Years, etc. Though that might be cool, too).

And a final take or at least a major explanation of the Temporal Cold War, which just might be in Christopher Bennett's new one.

Last but not least.... an Ascendants/Evoq/Bajoran conflict story! (also possibly forthcoming).

Ooh, yes! :)

Although, I think my dream series might be about to arrive. It would have in-depth exploration of various alien cultures and societies, lots of politics and interactions between civilizations attempting to deal with one another successfully, lots of continuity references and also strong stories that work as complete in themselves with galaxy-changing events, and help with the on-going development of a lot of established characters as well as introducing some new ones. It sounds like this might be the Typhon Pact! :)

Are they here yet?

The dream series I've been dreaming about for close to 25 years is a series of serial anthologies. Every few months, another collection of novellas and short stories, some featuring familiar faces in one-and-done stories, some introducing new ongoing casts of characters. Imagine... you get a trade paperback in March with the latest COE story, the latest in a series of stories about Cervantes Quinn pre-Vanguard, a short story about Saavik at Starfleet Academy, a short story about a couple of Titan supporting characters, and a Captain Sulu story. In June you get the next COE, a Klingon Empire/IKS Gorkon novella, a DTI short story, and a New Frontier short story. And so on.

It wouldn't sell. But I'd love it.
