Back in the ancient times of the 1960s, students were given instructions by educators that abbreviations were not to be used - ever - unless referring to an entity that was commonly known by its abbreviation - like CBS, the UN, the AP, the FBI, etc. As such, I still don't use abbreviations very often, as most all letters are available to me on my keyboard. It only takes a few seconds to spell things out, and your reader is not left wondering what FTWIHAIHTTS means.

Avatar checks out.

"ST" has never been a part of the three-letter abbreviation for any of the shows. Just saying. If we follow the example of Voyager (VGR) then it's DSC. If we follow the example of Enterprise (ENT), then it's DIS.

Huh. I always used "VOY." I'm wondering if I was in the minority.

 ;)

I never really abbreviated either Voyager or Enterprise. Dunno why, just seemed like a strange thing to do with a proper name.

But I'm not going to expend the energy to type out "Discovery."
