Due to many decades of looking at TV listings and the display on the TV, DIS always means Disney to me, and likewise, DSC will always mean Discovery. I'm actually surprised nobody else has mentioned this in this thread yet.

If they ever made a series or movie about the Enterprise-F, detractors would have a field day. "The Enteprise-F is more than an Epic Fail, it's an Enterprise-Fail!"
Before someone hits me with it: Yes I know it's in Star Trek Online. I like the Enterprise-F there, but it also looks kind of like what the Enterprise-E would look like if it were Shrimp.
And that's being kind to the ship. Imagine when they really start piling on. It will be an Enterprise F failure field day.

Yes, I went there. This is what will happen once DSC is no longer the newest series.
STD and DSC are both comparable, near-vicinity abbreviations typed with only one hand (similar to TAS and VGR).
STAR TREk almost is entirely typed with the left hand, if not for that stupid k. STAR WARS has Trek beat in that one respect.

Sometimes I get the feeling that some people will hate DSC no matter what. If it's different, they'll hate the difference, if it's similar, they'll hate the similitude.
You just can't win.
It's not a matter of what it resembles or doesn't resemble. It's a matter of the show's quality.
Oh, absolutely. I remember when ENT was vilified weekly for its "canon violations," its depiction of Vulcans, the theme song, etc. But now it's considered a venerable part of the franchise and cited as canon. Unlike that new interloper.

To answer the thread question, I think STD is a little silly, I think Disco is fun, but I ultimately don't care.
This is more accurate than I think a lot of people want to admit.
It's also less observant than defensive fans want to believe.
The truth is often somewhere in the middle
