Your latest purchases, cont.

I bought several dresses, all different styles.

In some ways different, but actually consistent in other ways, esp. the core silhouette. You have a pretty clearly defined preference for what works for you.

Yeah, I need a defined waist but a specific type. I can't do a dropped waist for sure, my torso is short and it just ends up making me look thick, especially with how short I am. That's the reason my dresses end up being short too.

I bought two more dresses yesterday. One's a short black number with black sequins on top, and the other one is a red and black print with a sweetheart neckline. I'm not even sure how to describe the print, it's something between floral and abstract.

Now I just need shoes ...

^One can never have enough shoes, unless you're Imelda Marcos, in which case, yeah, you really can.

I bought a travel coffee mug and a gift card (evil-sister is a coffee drinker, but only wanted gift cards).

For soon-to-be-divorced-sister, I bought two tops on sale at The Gap--one powder blue and one in a plum color. I hope she likes them.

I have all my family's gifts sorted. Now we just have to find something for hubby's crazy-ass sister and her two teen boys. UGH. They never tell us what they want until right before Christmas. Luckily, this year, we are spending Christmas with MY family and will be at my folks' place on Christmas Day--with the rest of the brood arriving on the 26th.

I'm actually weirdly not that into shoes. I have more than I'd like already (hiking shoes, gym shoes, two pairs of sandals, pair of black flats, and boots). I love looking at shoes, but I'm not a fan of buying or wearing them. I need to get heels though.

I was at Ross and they had the Target-exclusive Star Trek DVD Set with the disc-holder Enterprise inside (for $5!).

I have the movie on Blu Ray, but I bought the set anyway just to get that awesome little model:

It included

A queen size bed and mattress
Two bedside tables
Dressing table
Large wardrobe with sliding doors

4 bookcases with glass doors

A two seater recliner chair

Total price (with delivery) $4400

The recliner is being delivered tomorrow but i have to wait for the rest to arrive from the Mainland which might take a few weeks. I have paid $1500 and will pay the rest when the items arrive at the warehouse.

I also bought myself a Kindle.

Today I bought a stainless-steel/non-stick surface pan with rack to cook Thanksgiving turkey on, as well as a few casserole dishes to make sweet potatoes with. I also treated myself to a large "White Chocolate Dream" latte at Coffee Bean for the hella ridiculous long drive home from Long Beach to LA in the rain.

As a bookend to my little known "Soundbars?" thread, a few days ago I finally plumped for a Yamaha YRS-2100 speaker-stand system. It's sort of like Yamaha's Digital Sound Projector series, but serves a practical use too in that you can stick your TV and assorted gadgets on top of it.

I've found that it works very well with surround sound in enclosed spaces like my flat, and while not quite being as good as the real deal (only very slightly, mind you) it pretty much does everything I want it to and means that I can watch films without having to go and find space for an AV receiver and some rather bulky speakers.

Just grocery shopping. I'm having fun with the coupon game; with deals, vouchers and coupons, I got a £55 shop down to £43. If I'd been bothered to go shopping at the weekend I could have knocked it down to a little over £36 but one of my vouchers expired on Sunday. Paying £7 extra to avoid the weekend crowds is a fair trade-off! :D

How does that work? Some kind of software post-processing on the sound to mimic a surround effect?
