^Actually; my coffee shop has some even better beans from Mexico -normally that is, the last couple of times I went they were sold out :( But Wednesday is the next delivery :bolian:

^Why shouldn't the Mexicans be able to make good coffee I thought the first time I tried these beans -up until that point the Kenyan beans were my 'good beans'; these days they're my everyday beans :rommie:

TOO MUCH SNOW. :(

Had to go into town for a fitting on a double-breasted dinner jacket and the weather was so awful I promptly bought - and immediately wore - a pair of wellies to cope with all the snow and slush. Any excuse for new shoes/boots... :)

Five books:

  • Raymond Chandler's The Big Sleep
  • Elmore Leonard's Pronto (the first Raylan Givens character, the basis for FX's Justified)
  • Guillermo del Toro & Chuck Hogan's The Fall (book two in their vampire trilogy)
  • Valerie Plame-Wilson's autobiography Fair Game
  • Bob Woodward's Obama's Wars

Different story but with the same result (I bought them BEFORE winter) but as I was on my way to the corner shop, a couple of minutes ago, I noticed it wasn't exactly sandal-weather any more (the sweepers hadn't come by since the snowing began again today) - luckily I have a pair of Swedish Tretorn standing on the mat:

This is what 'outside' looked like:

Julemand - I like the lacing on those; proper heavy-duty wellies.

^Ooh, I like them, Holdfast. Great color.

Well, when it comes to Wellington boots, the colour choice tends to be limited to either green or black, and I prefer the green.

I wish I could find some way to getting rid of the Hunter logo though. It's not a sticker; it's actually bonded to the rubber, and it's a bit garish to my eye. But I just considered myself lucky to have found a pair in my size. They was the last pair in my size in the shop, and they were selling wellies like hot cakes because of the awful weather.

At least one part of the retail trade is enjoying the snow!

^I didn't know they come in any other design... been wearing Sweedish wellies all my life :rommie:
You wore those giant boots for that? That's nothing!

Didn't want my socks to get wet and found it easier to just kick off the sandals and use the boots -after all, that's what they are there for.

And: right, that's just 'pretty-snow' nothing to write home about :bolian:

The two well-known makers here are the cheaper Hunter and pricier Le Chameau. Frankly, for wellies that are only going to get super-infrequent use, the standard Hunter is good enough for me, and decently priced at about £65.

The welly pinnacle (at least cost-wise) is Le Chameau's Chasseur model, which is just shy of £300. :D

"Super-infrequent" - yeah, that's about right :bolian:

I actually bought for a completely different purpose :p

(I see it now; they've got a buckle-thingy on the outside of the leg!)

So what you're saying is...you were wearing socks with sandals?

Only because sandals are quicker to just slip on when I go to the corner shop.

When I found it necessary to wear socks indoors, though, it should have alerted me to the fact that today is a cold day outside... When I went grocery shopping earlier today I didn't have socks in my sandals -but it was only around freezing then, now it's well below.

So basically: yeah, I wear socks in sandals -- when it's freezing.

^Keeping it Margaritaville in thier heart all year-round?

We go with Sorels around here - made for 40 below zero temps. Thankfully we're not in Minnesota! Don't know how those folks get about in seven ft snow! (snowmobiles and huskies)

Why are you wearing sandals in the winter in the first place?

Other people wear slippers -I have yet to find some that I like and until then the sandals do the job for me :)
(the job being gong to the corner shop, going into the basement with washing, hanging washing on the line in the yard, that sort of stuff...)

Finished up my xmas shopping today by purchasing gift cards for some fast food joints (for my kids and husband). Woohoo!! Stick a fork in me......I'm DONE!
