Your favourite seasons of TV?

I was listening to a radio show and they mentioned Heroes and in particular season 1 of it and it gave me the idea for this thread. I was wondering what do people consider some of the best seasons of any shows you've seen on TV?

Heroes (season 1)
I watched this during the summer after it just finished and MY GOD I was simply hooked. I sat down on a friday to watch it and ended up watching all 23 episodes by Sunday Night  AMAZING storytelling.

Lost (season 1 & 3)
The first season of Lost pretty much hooked everyone who viewed it and had tens of millions people around the world trying to figure out WTF is going on here. Despite a slow start to season 3 when the show came back from its break to move the show into a midseason show it went on an amazing run of 16 episodes that for me were brilliant. Also the 3rd season cliffhanger was a game changer "WE HAVE TO GO BACK" ;)

Enteprise (season 4)
Despite the issues people had with this show, theres no doubt for me the 4th season with a major shift in the tone thanks to B&B leaving the regins to Manny Coto. Stories dragged out over several episodes were a great little touch and something shows should do more often though its a pity the B&B series finale was AWFUL.

Buffy (season 3)
Big fan of this show but the 3rd season in particular was a real joy to watch. The show refound its humor after a very good but darker 2nd season and the villian "The Mayor" was someone you loved to hate. Also the introduction of Faith allowed us to see what a powerful weapon a Slayer could be when seduced by evil + Slayer vs. Slayer fight :techman:

The West Wing (season 7)
Huge fan of this show and I know a lot of people have issues with the post Sorkin era (I agree season 5 has issues) but the 7th season allowing us to experience the race for the White House was great. The writers did a good job of making the Republican candidate not only likeable but also you felt at times he was going to win.

Fringe (season 1)
The X-Files/Lost vibe helped the show for me and the mystery grabbed me right away. The final scene revealing a HUGE secret was a wonderful way to end the debut season of this hilarious and freaky Sci Fi show.

The Walking Dead (season 1)
A major achievement in TV far as I am concerned by talking a very hit n miss genre and making some of the most serious and disturbing TV you will ever see.

Chuck (season 3)
The show re-invented itself with Chuck's new ability plus we saw a new side to Casey with his daughter allowing a new dimension to his character. The Chuck/Sarah relationship also allowed Fans to rejoyce and a major death is always good for the shock value. However was made this season was the villian and in particular the fight scene in the season finale.

Dexter (season 1)
Hooked me from the start with Michael C. Hall playing this brooding dark serial killer to perfection. The humor of the show fit in so well with the overall tone and I love a good arc playing out over the course of the season.

Ashes to Ashes (season 3)
The big reveal of everything in the series finale, which was a great send off for the character + the introduction of the evil but brilliantly played Jim Keats who provided a much needed villian for the show.

Torchwood (season 3 aka Children of the Earth)
5 episodes over 1 week + Major death + heart wreching ending and overall a thrilling twist filled story showing us just what humans might actually be willing to sacrifice to save themselves.

Sherlock (season 1 & 2)
Clever, funny, VERY VERY clever with wonderful performances from Benedict and Martin. A very interesting take on the Moriaty character plus that season 2 finale was

Off the top of my head...

Blakes 7 series 3- Bye bye Blake, hello Tarrant, Avon in command (sort of) my favourite series of B7.

Ashes to Ashes series 2- The show went to some dark places here, and alex finally became likable!

Ultraviolet series 1- :( of course sadly one series is all we got but I still like to mention it.

Voyager Season 4- Whist there are issues with losing Kes and certainly the look of 7, Jeri Ryan's arrival boosted the show enormously, though probably only in the short term. Finally we had a character who wasn't afraid to tell Janeway she was wrong, and boy did the show need that.

Babylon 5- seasons 2&3 the show at its height.

TOS- season 1, rarely has a show hit the ground running like this, no other Trek show has been as good as quickly.

DS9- pretty much everything after Sisko shaaved his head and grew a beard...and quite a bit of before these events as well...

TNG- season 3, Yesterday's Enteprise and BOBW pt 1

Babylon 5 Seasons 2 & 3

The peak of quite possibly the best sci-fi show to ever to grace our television.

Hercules: The Legendary Journeys Season 5

The cheesy, episodic style of the show was ditched in favour of an epic, season long arc with main character death, unusually complex characters, and a much darker tone that would put even Xena to shame. Season 6 would have continued on in this direction, but sadly Kevin Sorbo left for Andromeda.

Deep Space Nine Season 6

The brilliant Dominion War arc before it all went to shit in season 7.

Buffy: The Vampire Slayer Season 3

The Mayor. Faith. High School. Oz. Wesley. Angel. Need I say more?

SeaQuest 2032 Season 3
Space:1999 Season 1
Lost In Space Season 1
Buck Rogers In The 25th Century Season 1
Enterprise
Season 4

Heroes, S1

Prison Break, S1

DS9, mid-S5 through mid-S6

Dexter, S1-S2

Other than that, there are shows like Lost where I can't really id a certain stretch of episodes so easily. I'm sure I'm forgetting a ton of stuff but other people can fill that in.

B5-S2-3-4
Lost S1/Heroes S1
Torchwood-Children of Earth
4400-S1
Jeremiah S1
Dead Like Me S1
Xfiles S4
Mash S3

In no particular order:

Babylon 5, seasons 2 and (particularly) 3 - TV just doesn't get much better than this.

Blakes 7, seasons 1, 2 and 3 - ditto the above.

Heroes, season 1 - just brilliant stuff. It probably wasn't sustainable but it was quite incredible while it lasted.

Farscape, seasons 2 and 3 - when the show really got into gear and became quite brilliant.

Now and Again, only season - one-season shows probably shouldn't be in here and who knows, it may have gone downhill if it had continued. But that one season was gold.

Prison Break, season 1 - it's a pity this wasn't a two-season show (as was originally intended). As it was, it became another show that couldn't sustain its excellent start.

The Avengers, Diana Rigg's second season - surreal, hilarious, creepy and fantastic (in both senses of the word).

Six Feet Under, seasons 1 and 5 - it meandered a bit too much in the middle but the beginning and end were incredible. And of course it had (IMO, anyway) the best finale ever.

Voyager, season 4 and TNG, season 5 - my favourite seasons of Trek.

There may be others but that'll do for now.

Babylon 5 - Season 3
Farscape - Season 3
Battlestar Galactica - Season 1
LOST - Seasons 1-2
Nip/Tuck - Season 3
CSI - Seasons 1-4
Dexter - Seasons 1,4
DS9 - Seasons 5-6

LOST seasons 1-4
Stargate SG1 season 4
Blake's 7 seasons 2 and 3.
Dexter 1 & 2
Enterprise season 4
Boomtown, season 1. Absolutely perfect, IMO.
DS9 season 3 through 6
Luther, season 1
Deadwood seasons 1 & 2
Sherlock season 1
Survivors (BBC 2008) season 1
Supernatural season 5

The West Wing Season 2 was brilliant. All five seasons of The Wire were fantastic. TV at it's best.

The Wire, season 4.
Breaking Bad, seasons...all of them.
Mad Men, seasons 1-3 (I like 4, too, but Betty drags it down).
Star Trek, season 1.
Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, season 6.
Farscape, season 3.

^^
It has a rough patch after the climax of episode 13 that it doesn't fully recover from until episode 24. I prefer season two, which I should have listed, although it was never as good as those first two seasons, and often quite bad afterwards.

West Wing Season 3--The first season since September 11th was heavy on moral dilemmas facing foreign policy. This is where I think the show really hit its stride. It was nice to see the introduction of Amy Gardner and it wasn't a lock that Bartlet would win re-election. The writing is just great.

West Wing, Season 6--I think this is the best post-Sorkin season. The writing became much better after season 5. It dealt with the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict, and it simply did more with the characters than season seven.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Season 6--I know this receives a lot of criticism, but having Buffy become depressed and showing a superhero trying to pay the bills was awesome. They showed the dark side of the power they had with Willow becoming evil and addicted. This season has the musical episode. There's so much pain and trauma in this season and the characters learning to deal with it. It was much better the second time I watched it.

Deep Space Nine, Season 4--The Klingon conflict was great, well-executed. This had some great stand-alone episodes like The Visitor and Acession. It also did a tremendous amount in defining the Cardassians and the relationship with the Bajorans. I thought the acting and visuals were great as well. I own this season and will pop it on everyone once in awhile.

Star Trek: The Next Generation, Season 4--This had some great moments. The introduction of the Cardassians. First Contact and Galaxy's Child are two of my favorite TNG episodes. I just love the quality of the writing. JJ Abrams may not like the stately nature of Star Trek, but it means the Enterprise is writing history. This season is fantastic.

Star Trek, Season 1: I think these are some of the best episodes in Trek. I love them all.

TNG, Season 4
Farscape, Season 2 and 3
Babylon 5, Season 2
Doctor Who (The Christopher Eccleston Era)*
The last few seasons of Parks and Recreation and 30 Rock. I'm Absolutely loving both those shows right now.
Deep Space Nine, Season 5

*I started watching Doctor Who in 2005 and I actually still think the first season was the best.

I'll pick one season each from my favorite shows:
Babylon 5 Season Three
Farscape Season Three
Lost Season Three
Doctor Who Series Three
Angel Season Four
Buffy Season Three
Stargate SG-1 Season Five
Prison Break Season One
Deep Space Nine Season Five
X-Files Season Five

For some reason, Season 3 is always the best in sci-fi shows, followed by 5

The single best season of any TV show ever, for me, is Babylon 5, season 3.

But here is an expanded list:

B5: S2 thru S4
DS9: S6 (the best of DS9, and my second favorite single season of any show), S7 (second best) and S5 (3rd best)
LOST: S1 - S5. Parts of S6 were great too...but the last 20 minutes of the series nearly wiped out 6 years of awesome in one 20 minute sequence.
Buffy the Vampire Slayer: S2 (big Angel fan, not a big Faith fan so season 3 isn't as good for me)
Farscape: S2 and S3. (One word: Scorpius!)
nuBSG: S1
nuWho: S2 (although I know plenty who would disagree with me)
Wonderfalls: the only season there was
Firefly: the only season there was
Roswell: S2

Non-scifi:
24 - S2
Prison Break - S1

I really don't know what to do with NCIS. There is no single season of that show that stands out for me...but every single one is of such high quality that the show bears mentioning here. I can tell you what my favorite episode is (the one where they rescue Ziva from the camp in North Africa) but can't tell you a favorite season. the whole show is just really good.

The X-Files sort of falls in that category too, in a way. I was a fan of the conspiracy thread...but that was spread out over several seasons.
