Questions about Seasons 3-5

While true, the Klingons were central to S1 and still played a big role in S2. In ST, the Klingons are one of the few recurring aliens. They appear frequently in TNG and DS9. They find their way into VOY despite the DQ setting. They continued to play a role in 3 of 4 seasons of ENT. It just seems weird for them to be completely absent across all 3 distant-future seasons of Disco. Not one episode, not one Klingon?
Thankfully, no.

They got burned on their redesigned and going to 90s makeup would frustrate me.

Rather not see them.

I say just go back to the classic Klingon design and have the crew act like they always looked that way. Quietly sweep the Kling-orcs under the rug.
I'm sure you're not alone in that opinion.

I will personally say that the Discovery Klingons are my third favorite design, after TUC, and Into Darkness. The cultural presentation is far better in Discovery than most of the 90s era.

I absolutely love how the Klingons were done in Disco. I just hated the makeup, it got so redesigned, they could have easily passed as just anew alien race. Those actors can barely talk with all that crap in their mouths.

Well, there's only 4 shows to have brought back the classic Klingon look.
Worf and LD get a pass. Why not Prodigy and SNW?
Worf was part of a season dripping in references. LD is a comedy series with the TNG era baked in, plus deep cut references to past Trek. Neither I really take seriously.

SNW was something I like because it strikes a better balance between past production designs and updates. So I'm disappointed, if not surprised, that they did what they did.

Prodigy is frustrating because it felt so different.

Taking a step back, what are your general thoughts on each streaming series?
Discovery: Loved my rewatch of S1, 4 episodes into S2. This is my 2nd viewing of the series.
Shorts:
Fun as a companion show to Disco.
Picard:
I loved S1 as a post-TNG Picard-driven series. S2 was a bit WTF, but the characters made it work. S3 was on par with S1, but I feel like things were ignored "just because," and dialogue on the age of the Titan-A didn't make a lot of sense.
Lower Decks:
I absolutely love this show, it's basically a 4th show to TNG-DS9-VOY, but animated.
Prodigy:
I was really sore that VOY didn't get a movie. This fixed that. S1 plays like a VOY spin-off, S2 plays like VOY S8.
Strange New Worlds:
I am saving this for after I finish my rewatch of Disco S2.

Discovery: Season 1 is my favorite. Season 4 a close second. I find the Mirror Universe very interesting and Burnham an enjoyable character. This show has one of the better MU episodes in Season 3.

Picard: Season 1 is my favorite, and I love seeing more of the Romulans. Season 3 started out really strong, and had a nice exploration of the fringes of the Federation. Season 2 I largely ignore, for a lot of reasons.

Lower Decks: very fun. Mariner is the best.

Prodigy: still working through it. Good characters but some of the episodes hit wrong.

Strange New Worlds: been wanting a Pike show since 95. Probably my favorite of the modern bunch.

After S2, Disco remains quality Star Trek? Seems we agree on Picard.
Agreed on LD and PRO. How far into PRO are you?
Saving SNW for after I finish my Disco S2 re-watch. How has the show turned out?

The 3rd season ended on a very disappointing note, for me. Almost a little too fantasy for my liking. Season 4 had a really great antagonist, and I wish that this species had been more cleverly woven into the whole series. Which would've required it to not have been set in the 23rd century, originally.

S5 was fun, I guess, but was very..chasey..ehhh

Those first two seasons were hard to beat, but I'll agree with many posters in thinking that a lot of trouble could've been avoided with a post 25th century setting. 32nd century is just about right.

You and I define quality differently. I'd say it remains entertaining and the characters engaging.

Pro I paused after Season 1, episode 4. Too sad.

SNW embraces a more episodic format so I like it because if I don't like an episode I'll probably be ok with the next one. A mix of comedy, goofiness, and drama like TOS.

Well, I meant: is Disco S3-5 as good or better than Disco S1-2 or a drop in quality? :vulcan:

Looking up the Pro episode guide. You left off with the episode with the planet with killer plants that make you hallucinate your desires? I love that episode. While the show is animated, it's a mix of comedy, adventure, and deep emotions. It's surprisingly deep for an animated show. I highly recommend watching the rest. There's 40 episodes. If it's not renewed for S3, the S2 finale works well as an ending.

Good to know about SNW, thank you. :techman:

Equal quality I would say.

Yes, it is.

I'm not inclined to watch kids suffer.

Sometimes, I read spoilers to decide if I want to watch a movie or series. If you're like me:
The kids do not "suffer" in the show, but they do go through very emotional character arcs. They all come out on top by the end of S1. Come S2, they're seasoned and ready to handle whatever the galaxy throws at them.
