Your dream Star Trek game

Yeah my dream game would've been Secret of Vulcan Fury. It sounds like Interplay really went to town on that game and it was such a shame it didn't happen.

I can't understand why another company couldn't have bought the rights and produce the game. It was the last time the entire crew voiced something together for a game. It should be recreated and reanimated to get the game done. I'm all for a kickstarter campaign to get the game finished.

Even if the game itself can never actually be completed, Dorothy Fontana once indicated she would be interested in novelizing her game script.

I want that.

Secret of Vulcan Fury--and
Starfleet Command 4 (finishing the storyline from the Starfleet Battles boardgame)..

Hmmm, never thought about that. But given the game never got released, wouldn't they maybe be pleased to see it used in some fashion?

Yes, in show business, the 98th rule of acquisition certainly applies: "Every man has his price."

Perfect Game bullet points:
* Sandbox - I don't care (necessarily) what kind of ship it is - Constitution, Galaxy, Intrepid, all of the above - but someone has to someday build a complete by-the-blueprints copy of a ship from deck-to-deck, wall-to-wall. Like that Enterprise 3D project someone tried last September.
* No captaining - Captaining is great, but I'd like to work the lower decks (at least at first). Work your way up from an ensign. Get assigned to missions on the basis of skill. All that jazz.
* Episode-inspired missions - In my dream of dreams, the Perfect Game would place you on a ship during a known TV episode. And then you'd deal with the problem of the week in ways that may differentiate from what really happened that episode. And you could have the developers introduce a few episodic missions, and then open it up to the players to quickly develop all episodes from a select series, or even all series if the ships are available.

I'd take the Mass Effect style, and I'd cut the "action / shooter" elements down by about half...and have more puzzle solving / exploring / mystery elements added (like Final Unity). Keep the interactive storyline with the dialogue and "choose your own path" elements from ME. Make the RPG element more like the first game. Make it pretty open-universe...

It's funny...I could never figure out why they wouldn't have done this already.

Sadly, I have never been into any of the Star Trek games, aside from A Final Unity (which I haven't played since like 1995 so I have no clue how well it holds up today). The Knights of the Old Republic and Mass Effect games are my two all time favorite game series. Mass effect especially would be an awesome format for a Star Trek game. I think if a Star Trek game followed a Mass Effect style shooter/RPG format and was done by Bioware, integrated some space battle play, along with probem solving or puzzles (with moderation!), I think it could be a great game.

However, the only eras that would interest me would be TOS-TOS movie-TNG\DS9-Post nemesis eras. Star Trek 2009 is a good movie, but I don't have the emotional connection to the JJ universe to make me want to play a video game based on that universe.

As long as the game is good, I don't need the emotional connection. I never had an emotional connection to Mass Effect before playing those games. :techman:

Star Trek: A Telltale Games Series

An episodic point-and-click adventure game to celebrate the 50th Anniversary.

TOS era, TNG era, reboot film era, or even set in the new series era, I don't care, I think a Star Trek game developed by Telltale Games would be phenomenal. It'd be the closest thing to another 25th Anniversary, Judgement Rites, or A Final Unity.

Also, here's a fun fact, Telltale have hinted before at the possibility of a new Star Trek game in The Walking Dead...

It's probably just a silly easter egg that means nothing, but whatever, seems like they've considered the idea at least.

Other than that, I think an RPG set in the Star Trek universe à la the Knights of the Old Republic or Mass Effect game series would be pretty badass. I don't think BioWare would be my preferred choice for a game like this anymore, they're a shell of their former selves from ten years ago, but a Star Trek RPG developed by someone like CD Projekt RED or Obsidian Entertainment? You can count me in.

I'm wondering how plausible it could be to have a Star Trek game which players take positions on one ship, and perform duties on that ship or space station. This means other players, dumb or adolescent thinking they may be, could end you character's life because of their bad decisions while on the bridge?

Star Trek: Prime Directive
A text based game revolving around making decisions on each race you meet, assessing from orbit the correct course of action in interacting with them.

Star Trek: Red Shirt
A fast paced FPS where there are 1657 things that can kill you per map, and only 15 milliseconds to avoid each. Better get those thumbs trained up.

Would you mind another player making an executive decision for you in a RPG game?
